Still, a few more panels won't make any difference in my opinion. It's OK with the random panels when the rest of the structure fills in the other spaces, but with the open sky behind those few panels, it almost seems there's noting there at all but the same old boxing ring.

Why inaccurate? The Bay Central hotel building is a shitty little building compared to Infinity and Burj Khalifa. Launched 2006 and not expected until sometime 2014! That's 8 years minimum for a shitty little design.
Witnessing first hand how Select have struggled with the construction of mediocre buildings, it would frighten me to imagine how they would have handled a build as challenging as this one. I doubt it would have ever been built given the problems that were experienced at the start. Also knowing Select's previous, they would have got a concept from SOM then sacked them and got some cheap and cheerful local consultant to do the final design which would have been a seriously watered down version. I note the continual comments and criticisms of the roof feature here, when work is still clearly on going. Quite irritating to an extent. They should look at the roof features on Select's offerings and compare them with the renders used at sales time. The roof feature here looks slightly diluted but that seems to be at the expense of adding more living space to the structure's volume. In order to maintain the 90' twist and add more penthouse floors, you need to curtail the roof feature or you overshoot the twist. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I just question the motives behind some opinions. Infinity is the iconic structure in the marina and is world famous. I constantly see people getting their pictures taken with Infinity in the background or just taking a picture of Infinity on its own. I have seen pictures of it representing Dubai in magazines in Miami. We are used to seeing Burj Al Arab and BK in this role, but there is now a new kid on the block that is also a structural icon in Dubai.
