Ok, so I won't even ask for a potential opening date as we all know that is anyone's guess.

I just simply ask is any work/progress going on currently at the airport? Or is it just sitting there???

Well, they mow the lawn on a regular basis.

The problem is the fire supression system. They are working on alternatives to make it safe. The building and all of its systems are in place and ready to go.

In the new movie "Lucy" with Scarlett Johanson there are scenes filmed in Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, in Rome Fiumicino Airport and in Berlin Tegel Airport. Paris and Rome's airports looked really fancy, whereas the Berlin airport looked oudated and rancid. Way to go Berlin! Great advertising!

Charles de Gaulle airport looked nice? That's got to be very selective shooting. It is not my favourite airport I have to say - especially terminal 1. Though the design is rather iconic, it is ugly and a bit outdated.

I'm looking forward to this new airport to be opened. The pictures of it look really good, so soon Berlin will be able to replace Tegel at least.

I've flown to/from CDG and TXL several times, and I'll pick TXL over CDG anytime. CDG has its nice and futuristic looking bits and pieces, but it feels chaotic and in most places just blah. Service is slow and everything is expensive and way too big. TXL does look outdated, but it's an agreeable place to arrive at or depart from. The biggest downside of TXL is that it's not connected to neither the U-bahn nor S-bahn networks. That bus shuttle to anywhere is pretty annoying.

You'd only pick CDG if you're flying Air France.

Last time it was Air Canada though. Cheap fare. But not entirely satisfied with the airport.
