Courtenay/Comox Valley has a very pleasant climate with still less rain than Vancouver.
It is much more affordable than Vic/Van and is quite a pretty little city {area pop...50,000} and lovely area. Not spectacular or existing but a very pleasant little city.

meh...it's alright. i live in the comox valley, about 20-25 min drive from comox, i go to high school in courtenay (well, only for a few more days and then i'm done with high school). comox is pretty, probably the better of the four C's in the area (courtenay, comox, cumberland, campbell river).

Well my my family has a summer home in Campbell River and I think its amazing good fishing, the mountains are close by and the city is big but no to big for that small town feel.

yeah, campbell river proper has something like 30,000-34,00 people and it's really spread out so it doesn't really feel like it. i live closer to campbell river then the communities in the comox valley. i prefer the comox valley though.

^About half the amount of Victoria. For BC that's cheap but for the rest of the country it would be no bargain asnd far far more expensive than a similar sized city in the rest of the country being more than 200km from a major metro.
When we in BC say cheap just assume its fairly pricy. The whole province, even thesde little god-forsaken no where town are much more exp than the rest of the country.

So I assume you could buy a half decent property for about 250K?
