Does anyone know what is going on at Maryhill Locks?

I cycle by there on way to work and over the last two days someone has been setting up large marquees and pontoons on the canal complete with thumping sound system and 24 hour 'event security' in yella jaikets.

Quite surprised as there is a pair of nesting swans in one of the basins and having been involved in several projects on waterfronts with nesting swans the ecology reports usually exclude any works that can cause distress to wildlife.

Noticed a RedBull liveried hot rod car today as well so guessing they are filming something.

F*** swimming in there! I know people are making a superb effort at keeping it a little bit tidier these days but it's still full of all manner of stuff I'd rather not swim with.

Found the info http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/lo...caught-5406627

I am away this weekend or I would gone along to watch.

Grumble, grumble, I posted it in the sport thread cause I wasn't sure it really counted as regeneration, grumble, grumble...

I think the hardest part of the event will be forcing yourself to keep going when you know every stroke brings you closer to the car crash, yellow brick shite, new builds at the top.

Have another grumble on me. At least there's to be a bike hub up there soon.
