Avtoceste ARHIV/Motorways ARCHIVE

National Motorway Construction Programme envisages the completion and improvement of motorways and other roads in mainly two directions:

East - West from Šentilj/Spielfield (Austrian border) and Pince (Hungarian border) to Koper with exits, and to the Italian border
North - South from the Karavanke Tunnel on the Austrian border to Obrežje on the Croatian border.
The Slovene motorway route heading from East to West is in line with the V. European Transportation Corridor (Trieste, Koper, Postojna, Ljubljana, Budapest), the motorway heading in the direction North - South is also in line with the X. European Transportation Corridor.
On the abovementioned lines, the National Motorway Construction Programme envisages the building of the following:

538,6 km of motorways and expressways;
34 km of other public roads serving as feeders to the motorway network;
the renovation of 101 km of public roads due to the motorway construction; and
implementation of 28 re-routing and similar such construction projects where motorway construction impinges on the national railway network.
Reconstruction and other improvements and upgrades of part of the main and regional roads, which will temporarily facilitate the tasks of the not- yet-built motorway network, are a part of the National Motorway Construction Programme. These improvements to the road system will make connection of the bigger inhabited areas to the motorway system much easier and provide much better flow of traffic on the V. European Transportation Corridor.
The anticipated estimate of the investment value of the motorway construction and construction of other public roads and work on the railway system after the changes and modifications of the National Motorway Construction Programme in the Republic of Slovenia, is USD 4.1 billion. The most important sources of funds are the 'petrol tolar' and part of the pay toll, representing in total 67% of the necessary funds. Other funds will come from domestic and foreign loans and other sources.

A1 motorway (Slovenia)

The A1 motorway (Slovenian: avtocesta A1) is a motorway in Slovenia, around 250 km long, connecting Šentilj (at the Austrian border) and Koper (on the shores of the Adriatic Sea). It passes several important Slovenian cities, including Maribor, Celje and Ljubljana all the way to the Slovenian Littoral and in Koper with its important port.

Construction began in 1970 and in 1972 the first motorway section in Slovenia was built, connecting Vrhnika and Postojna. It was opened for traffic on December 29, 1972.

does somebody have detailed plan of Ljubljana Ring? I'm never sure enough which part is A1, which is A2, which H3. actually, I think you made things too complicated. the best way would be if Ring was A0, and motorways in directions MB, NM, KP and KR were A1-A4. don't you think?

and Črni Kal is really the most fabolous thing on your roads! I also remember Giro, and I remember seeing it from plane this summer!

By the way, the southern part of the ring is both the A1 and A2, but the exit numbers follow the A1.

The H3, on the other hand, is an expressway, with a speed limit of 100 km/h instead of the usual 130 km/h. Also, the ring was actually envisioned as a U-shaped bypass of the city with the H3 as a feeder road to the city.

Chire, enkratne zemljevide delaš! Čeprav z unim odsekom Šentvid - Koseze si pa mal pohitel.

@x-type, the thing is, first of all, what already edolen said, that not the entire Ring is a real motorway (although also H3 is 4-laned, even with hard shoulders), the second thing is that we always had these two expressions "Slovenika" (for A1) and "Ilirika" (for A2), so they would be both interrupted, if the Ring was A0 or whatever. Ljubljana is just a stop on both motorways, not beginning or end of them.

Avtocesta bo dokončana do konca tega leta, stranski uvozni predori in rekonstrukcija Celovške ceste pa do konca leta 2008.
