A footnote on the history of Arunachal Pradesh integral to Hinduism (and later Buddhism):
Ancient India: The Hindu texts Kalika Purana and Mahabharata mention the region as the Prabhu Mountains of the Puranas, and where sage Parashuram washed away sins, the sage Vyasa meditated, King Bhishmaka founded his kingdom, and Lord Krishna married Rukmini.
Arunachal Pradesh was known as Bhismaknagar in ancient times.

Medieval India: The Assamese Ahom chronicles of the 16th century discussed by the Monpa and Sherdukpen discuss the local chiefdoms which flourished between 500 BCE and 600 CE, after which they came under control of the Ahom and the Assamese until the annexation of India by the British in 1858.
