White Collar Factory | Islington | 17 fl | U/C

Whislt looking at LMS latest financial results it said they have put in for planning a squire & partners mixed use scheme next to the old st roundabout which could start in 2008 if it gets planning as they get vacant possesion at the end of 2007.

Any guesses on the height? Must be at least 130m.

Good design. I like its simplicity. There are too many wacky towers going up in London.

Wow! I like it. Reminds me of the Central Station Tower (?) in Liverpool. Anyroad.. it's certainly better than the hulk of weathered 60s shite currently there.

Excellent!! A real London eyesore at the SW corner of the Old Street roundabout set to be levelled. It's quite made my day.

Has anyone got a photo of the building that's due to be demolished to make way for this building?

Nasty.

Well it's nice to see another grim building bite the dust.

I completely agree with LOndon Lad - and it is such a shame to see the general state of the lousy buildings such as this in the vicinity of Old Street when you can walk up City Road and streets off, and see some fantastic buildings toward and beyond Moorfields Hosp, and on the left and right magnificent industrial buildings that are well preserved and still vital.

Looks a good height and nice shape, and is replacing something truly awful but the cladding looks far from acceptable in that render.

Here's a pic of Old Street I took last year. This area is UGLY, and rough, and certainly in need of development -

Not bad tower - pretty tall tho - so thumbs up.

Guess theres gonna be a steady rise in high rise living developments right accrss the capital in the coming years if the trend sets in - bit like expensive 4wds really eh!

Only much better looking of course.

City Road runs North up from Moorgate (near Liverpool Street Station) up to Angel. This development is next to Old Street roundabout and tube station which is on the edge boundary of the 'City' about 10 mins North from Moorgate.

The roundabout intersects with Old Street which links the Hoxton/Shoreditch with Farringdon and still conveys a lot of its Victorian charm but its cohesion and sense of place has been seriously eroded by post war developments, particularly the roundabout above tube station which reinforces its edge feel and seems to be quite a potent barrier along with the post war housing estates on the North side.

Developments (see the 80s/early 90s tat in the pictures) right up to recent times have not been able to really address these issues. THere is quite a bit of cleaning up going on around the precinct area but unless they deal with the roundabout I dont hold out much hope for the place.

Having worked in the area and been all around there, I think it's the perfect location for a tower like this imo.

Excellent find yet again London Lad.

The area is toss, but....Does anyone else like the taller building in this pic?

To me it has the most astounding (but simple) cladding when you catch it in the early morning or late evening light...

Iy is one of my favorites cladding wise.
