Thanks for the pics Poli. I went on the ferry myself a few weeks ago, but stupidly left my camera in York. I kept thinking as the boat passed the Central Docks area- imagine what the skyline will look like in 8 years time- stretching (I hope) from the Tobacco warehouse to the end of Kings Dock, and on to Brunswick Quay. One thing I think is for sure, the skyline is going to change dramatically over the next decade.

Hopefully, as all the new build appears NIMBY-esque attitudes will decline both amongst the local population and especially in the council. After all, it will take some doing in a few years time to turn down a modern tower along the water front when there is Unity, Beetham 2, etc.

If Beetham 2 turns out as good as the renderings the I think people may accept modern highrise easier. Beetham 1 has become part of the skyline now that it'd look wierd with out it, West Tower will change the view even more dramatically with it's height and location.

The more 20ish storey buildings we get, the less controversial buildings of such a scale become. In turn they pave the way for yet bigger buildings so I think shortly, we will get more proposals over 30 storeys and so on.

Very true. Its also good that the 20ish mike buildings are located right on the waterfront, meaning that any buildings built further inland will have to be taller.

I also very much enjoy the fact that the word 'storey' has now been completely supplanted by the word 'mike' on this forum. So much so that I barely notice it any more.

I'm just surprised it hasn't been usurped by the word 'gobshite'.

"Beetham West will be 40 gobshites tall".

Had a little ferry trip myself today in the georgeous weather, first time in about 15 years, was fantastic. The view of the waterfront does look impressive, and to think what it will look like in 2008 when a lot of the developments are finished. Have taken about 100 pics, so will post a selection of the best in various relevant threads.

Here is a starter.

The ferry stage

Release the rope and of we go cool dude

Great pics Juxt, esp the first with the Princes views.
I know I shouldn't judge people on first appearances, but I can't help it when looking at that bloke wearing the shades
