Entertainment City billed as next major central business district
Quote:
MANILA, Philippines - Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.’s Las Vegas-style casino and tourism complex Entertainment City has the potential to become the next major central business district in Metro Manila and replicate the success of Bonifacio Global City where demand for real estate properties has gone up significantly, according to the head of the state gaming firm.

Pagcor chairman and chief executive officer Cristino Naguiat Jr. said Entertainment City, located on 100 hectares of reclaimed land along Manila Bay, is not only poised to become the country’s premier gambling destination but is also seen to lead the next wave of growth in the metropolis.

Naguiat said real estate values in Manila have been on the uptrend especially with the ongoing development of the Entertainment City.

so what happened next

bago po ako sa ssc... so anong nang yari na sa pagcor e-city. kung di natuloy yung beacon tower at yung manila eye anong mang yari sa plano... dapat resorts, amusement park, casinos at mala las vegas extravaganzas na shows na may tasteful naked people doing shows to entice would be gamblers at no no churches or house of worships sa vicinity....sin capital nga bat kailangang may guilt trip. dagdagan na rin nila ng cable cars mula sa sa seaside or bay side up to the tower.

$2-B Casino project in Pagcor City: 2 Phl firms to acquire 60% of Okada lot

Quote:
MANILA, Philippines - The land ownership issue hounding the group of Japanese gaming tycoon Kazuo Okada may finally be resolved after two unnamed local groups signified interest to acquire majority ownership of the property for Okada’s $2-billion casino project.

In a briefing yesterday, Eagle II Holdings Inc. president Jose Leagogo said they have entered into a memorandum of understanding with two leading Philippine corporations, whereby the latter would acquire at least 60 percent of the casino project’s landowner.

Naia Expressway project breaks ground
By Jerry E. Esplanada
Philippine Daily Inquirer
3:18 am | Thursday, July 11th, 2013

MANILA, Philippines—The groundbreaking and civil works of Phase II-A of the P15.5-billion Ninoy Aquino International Airport Expressway (Naia) project can be expected to start next January, the Department of Public Works and Highways said on Wednesday.

The DPWH said it is now working on the detailed engineering design for the project, which will “supplement the completed Phase I, which interfaces with the Manila South Luzon Expressway at Sales Interchange,” and is programmed for completion on March 2015.

The DPWH said the construction of the project’s Phase II-B, which will run from the Domestic Road to Naia Terminal 3, is scheduled to begin in April 2014 and is expected to be completed in September 2015.

The Naia Expressway is a 7.15-kilometer, four-lane road that is being developed around Metro Manila’s existing network of expressways. It will link Naia Terminals 1, 2 and 3 to the Skyway in the South Luzon Expressway (SLEx), the Manila-Cavite Expressway (Cavitex) and the Entertainment City casino complex in Parañaque City.

SMC won bidding
Conglomerate San Miguel Corp. (SMC) won the bidding for the construction, operation and maintenance of the Naia Expressway, the first of Aquino administration’s public-private partnership (PPP) schemes, last April.

On July 8, the DPWH and SMC signed a concession agreement, exactly one month after SMC made an upfront payment of P11 billion for the project.
The amount, which the DPWH promptly turned over to the National Treasury, represented the “government’s share in revenues for the project’s 30-year operation and maintenance concession period,” the DPWH public information office said.

SMC beat rival Metro Pacific Investments Corp. in the bidding for the 7.15-kilometer expressway project.
Two other companies, Ayala Land and India’s IL & FS Transportation Networks Ltd., earlier withdrew their bids.
The project, approved on May 30, 2012, by the National Economic and Development Authority (Neda), includes the construction of a 2.2-km road going to the Entertainment City on reclaimed land facing Manila Bay.

The government will finance the project’s right-of-way acquisition costs amounting to P2.25 billion.
The state-run Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. will provide P6.5 billion in “infrastructure support funds.”
According to Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson, the project “exemplifies the extreme support and confidence of the private sector in helping pursue the development infrastructure plans of the government through the public-private partnership program.”

So it's right beside Marina Subdivision. Lucky residents. I think that on a a per square meter basis, Marina has the most expensive village land price in Pque.

SkyCity eyes Manila for possible casino expansion

Kirby Garlitos*- August 19, 2013

SkyCity Entertainment Group*is ditching plans to build a casino in Gold Coast, Australia because of a lack of certainty on whether a casino would be part of a proposed plan to build wider cruise ship terminal in the tourism hotspot. But with that door closing, the New Zealand-based casino outfit is opening a new one with an eye towards expanding its business overseas.

One international destination SkyCity is keeping a close eye on is*Manila*and SkyCity chief executive Nigel Morrison took a lot of people by surprise when he announced the company’s interest in establishing a presence there.“We’re staying close to the Philippines and monitoring that space,” Morrison said last week* after the company posted its*annual financial results.

There are no immediate plans for the company to move forward with its intentions for Manila because all four casino licenses doled out by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation as part of its Entertainment City project are all accounted for.

But one of those licenses, specifically the one belonging to*Kazuo Okada’s Universal Entertainment*could still be*revoked*if the company is found guilty of*violating Philippine law. That could open a slot that SkyCity could well take advantage of. But whether that happens or not is still an entirely different matter, although from the way Morrison sounds, it looks like the company is ready to give the Philippines a go if the opportunity presents itself.“We are always looking at ways to grow the business beyond our existing markets and proactively review new opportunities to create shareholder value,” Morrison was also quoted as saying back in February. “The Philippines is recognized as one of the most exciting new emerging gaming markets in Asia.”While there’s no denying the Philippines’ attempt at staking a bigger claim of the Asian gambling market, a foreign company like SkyCity entering into that marketplace is a lot easier said than done.

Philippine policy explicitly says that no foreign company can have a*majority stake*in any business in the country, which means that the New Zealand-based casino must have a consortium arrangement with a local company with the latter controlling majority of the business relative to what an international company is required to have under the law.Even if Universal gets to keep its license and build its planned $2-billion integrated resort and casino in the Philippines, the success of Entertainment City will likely compel Pagcor to create more licenses for other foreign casino operators to take full advantage of. If and when that time comes, it’s starting to sound like SkyCity Entertainment Group will be the first ones in line to secure a new license.

A lot of ‘ifs’, we know, but don’t sleep on the Philippines emerging as a legitimate casino destination for locals and foreigners alike.*That’s what SkyCity is banking on and when the time’s right that more licenses are going to be offered, it’s going to be ready to pounce.
