PLDT in talks to buy Alphaland Tower
Other firms also interested in 34-storey building
By Doris C. Dumlao | Philippine Daily Inquirer | Sunday | August 4th, 2013 | 9:42 pm

Local telecommunications giant Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) is in talks to acquire the newest prime office property at the Makati central business district—the 34-storey Alphaland Tower put up by the property development arm of businessman Roberto V. Ongpin.

Inquirer sources said PLDT, which is led by businessman Manuel V. Pangilinan, was now in the thick of discussions with the Ongpin-led Alphaland Corp. for a potential purchase of the multibillion-peso office property.

In reply to a query from the Inquirer, Alphaland president Mario Oreta said: “I confirm that I am in talks with several parties, including PLDT, but I have not signed any deed of sale.”

Oreta said there were other companies in discussions with Alphaland to buy the building.

No, Alphaland should buy it, rebuild it, then sell it to another company. Wala ring gagawin si MVP sa JAKA Tower kung mabili nya.

Yeh just like what Alphaland did to the formerly unfinished Magallanes property in which the turned to a glassy Alphaland Southgate Mall.

Yes. It was renovated last year I think. There's also a McDonald's and a 7-11 at the ground floor.

I hope that Alphaland will be successful in selling it. With this, they wiill have a reason to build a new Alphaland Tower which must be taller and grander. Of course, they must have a tower of their own.

Alphaland weighs other purchase bids

(snipped)

Premier property developer Alphaland Corp. is evaluating offers to either buy or lease its P3-billion high-end office development project in the Makati business district.

Alphaland chief finance officer Marianne Yulo said in an interview at the sidelines of a forum held at Raffles Hotel in Makati City that aside from Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co., other local and foreign companies expressed interest in leasing or buying the office building.

“We are still assessing our options and PLDT is just one of them,” Yulo said.

May bad karma yung JAKA dahil galing sa masama ang pinuhunang pera kaya walang matinong tao ang bibili noon. Baka malipat sa kanila ang bad karma.

Why Lucio Co wants Alphaland Tower

By Jenniffer B. Austria | Apr. 19, 2015 at 10:40pm

Quote:
Aside from the reduced price of less than P7 billion for the Alphaland Makati Tower from the P8-billion initial offer, billionaire Lucio Co has other reasons why he was keen on acquiring the property, one of the assets obtained by British fund Ashmore, when it parted ways with the Ongpin Group.

Sources close to the Filipino-Chinese businessman said another reason why Co wanted the office building is the property’s unique address in the Makati central business district, which is 6789 Ayala Avenue.
