What is the most anti-gay US city?

I am curious. Would anybody know? I think it might be Tampa/St. Petersburg FL or Topeka KS.

Chicago is one of the most gay-friendly cities on the planet.

Ronda Storms.

She does not represent the city of Tampa, her district are in the suburbs outside the city where all the overly conservative people live. Kathy Castor, the only one who voted against the ban, has her district in the downtown area.

I lived in Tampa/St. Pete for 6 months. I am seeing a pattern.

I was kicked off the beach in Passe-a-Grille by the cops for being too close to a family with my boyfriend and it made them uncomfortable. I was stalked by teens in circling cars calling me "faggot" coming out of Georgies Alibi..I thought Tampa/St. Pete seemed rather hostile for us sensitive fags. Also the recent kidnappings and slayings of homosexuals doesn't make the city seem like a big ole lovefest.

I feel sorry for the gays that live there. It sis not exactly Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Sarasaota or Key West when it comes to gay friendliness.

Tampa/St. Pete is so anti-gay now because all the recent immigrants are from the inland west states, plains states, and the deep south.

But for me its not that bad, I have never been to Passe-a-Grille or plan to now that you mentioned and that I hang out with either foreingers or really tolerant people and my school actually has a gay pride week thanks to our editor of newpaper who is oddly enough in the Christian club and a bisexual. And im sorry about your bad experience in my county, I hope to leave the Tampa/St. Pete area as soon as possible.

Which part of Pinellas county did you have the guys in the car calling you a "faggot" incident?

Interesting...Georgies Alibi is in St. Pete, not too far from downtown and Central Ave.
It is a bar in a strip mall and at night there is really big empty parking lot around it so its easy to be a target.

There are a number of gay-friendly places in the South, its just that the South has a more heavily rural/small town population where people are traditionally more homophobic. I live in a gay-friendly city, with a large gay population, but its one of the few in South Carolina.

Basically most of the South and the Midwest, also known as the red states.

Did that article confuse anyone else?? It was gramatically atrocious!

Forget about the promotion of gay pride - let's aim for the promotion of literacy!
