Both are tacky, imo. And also, that hideous one in Las Vegas.

Macau's Venetian is huge. This one in Taguig is shorter and there are some modern elements that distracts the baroque-classic details. They should also fix the green water and make it more bluish. However the Venice Grand Canal Mall is somewhat better than Macau's, simply because VGCM doesn't use artificial skylights and painted ceilings. Just sayin

AnakngPasig...Venetian Las Vegas--is it really that bad? The building inside and out looked nice to me, then again, I based my observations simply on plain aesthetic. The "canal" was not something to be excited or write home about, however.

Copycats of the San Marco Campanile everywhere are always tacky in my book no matter how closely they resemble the original in Venice. Firstly, they simply don't have any historical significance at all. Secondly, they're made for people who can't afford to see the real thing (I get this one though, not everyone can go to Italy.) Thirdly, they're fake - a fake anything is always tacky and that includes kitschy theme-park-ish architecture made to fool everyone else but one's self.

I hope the indoor mall part of Venice Grand Canal Mall has some real interior architecture going on and not a themed one.

I am one of the many who may not have the time nor the willingness to spend his hard earned money to go to Venice. However, I will have the chance to go to Sigonella and looking at the map of Italy, Venice is about a 2 hour plane ride to where am going to be...Hmmm, maybe next time.

Nakapunta ako doon kahapon sa Venice Grand Canal Mall and I found some observations:

Hindi pa rin bukas as of now.

- Water is still green.

Lack of water circulation, at anti algae solution

The already open indoor parts of the mall.

Sorry some shots were overexposed but I'm not complaining because the freaking phone used to take them costs PhP2,299.

This is actually a closed-off section on the eastern end of the partly-opened northern half of the indoor mall that is quickly revealed by drawing the tarp covering its entrance.

Alfresco section. Though it looks like it's already part of the indoor mall, it actually opens up to the canal and is un-airconditioned.

Oh my God!!!

Tacky and theme-parkish, yes, specially if you have been born in Europe or living there amongst the real landmarks, which were built in very different materials (in this case it was brick and stone, not painted commercial-mix concrete). And of course the proportions... the real tower is like 95 m. But... don't we still love it for a change? IMHO, it's a "well done tacky construction"! The canal is small enough so that the water can be easily treated like a swimming pool and any issues can be fixed with reasonable maintenance. They still need to take care of the painted concrete... Many of the mixes they use here tend to crack only after a few years. All in all, I find it a good addition to BGC.

I'm pretty sure many people love it but, I don't. It's just a matter of personal preferences.

For people like me who have really no interest of seeing the real one.. This copycat is a good one!

Kudos to the developer! I will spend some of my money here when I'm in BGC soon. ok..Christmas!

I think I already asked before but does the mall footprint cover the podium of the residential towers as well?
