This section is to present self made images of urban settings, this to distinguish from the general Cityscapes and Skyline Photos in which all urban images can be posted. Enjoy.
I was going to start a General Photography thread, but one thing I noticed is that alot of the one photo per post threads contain many urban related photos, that could partly explain how strangely enough the General Photography section seems to be busier than Urban Showcase.
Maybe the one photo per post threads could be a sub-section of this forum, as long as the photos are original, and not necessarily have to be all urban related if there are alot of urban related photos in them, and this could free up space in the GP section for more general photography threads....
I suppose at the very least one could make a case for a separate one photo per day forum regardless given how many there are which could promote even more, and again free up space for other photography.
They look fine to me, orionbeta1. I can see them all! Maybe you need to clear your browser of all cookies and unnecessary stored files! If you still have problems, pm me and I'll try to help you.
Is General Photography supposed to contain just original photos, or it's supposed to be a mix of original and found photos where the found photos are supposed to be credited there also?
And plus the one photo a day concept seems to be dominant enough to warrant a section under it which would provide more space for it, and free up GP at the same time for threads about any pictures under the sun about any category that don't necessarily pertain to a particular country, but anything else.

Have loads of thees, I might open few threads, when I feel less stressed out, I've taken so many photos in recent months
Not sure if London had any representation here, but I have like 1500 good quality 12 megapixel photos from all over London
Tour's of major London museums as well if ppl are interested to see, I'd be happy to share on 3rd(October) I'll take pics in City of London and Might add these as well.... but for now at least I'll leave you all with photo of a what is to be the most expensive property on planet earth once completed.
each apartment in this complex is going at 100 million pounds price tag :nuts:
Any plans to ban or move all the one photo a day threads in the Urban Showcase? Almost the entire first page is filled with the same threads time after time because thread starters add just a few pics every several days, post one pic a day, or even post one pic at several times a day. Photo posts of people who visited a city are never seen as such threads move quickly pages down because all these one photo a day threads keep going to the top and fill all the page slots.
The problem is people posting ONE photo per post SEVERAL times a DAY .... when in fact several pics can be posted each time. One gets the feeling that they don't have enough photos and have an urgent desire to always be at the top of the page therefore pacing themselves ...
I have many pics and post approx. 15 pics per post, I have also tried to make it more interesting with news snippets etc. sort of like a photo blog.
I am in support of a separate thread being created for people who post one pic at a time - there should also be a rule that if they want to post one pic at a time they can only do so once a day .... "a pic a day" .... you can also include once off city visits like my Sydney, Melbourne and Queenstown threads ... I only travel to those cities once every 2 years and once the pics run out the thread is dead.
Many of us go through a lot of effort to go out and get the pics, post process, upload to photo hosting sites etc. and I might add that we do a gr8 job - there are some amazing threads here that I never tire of .. we deserve our very own forum
Hey Greg, what do you think of the following suggestion.
A seperate subforum in the photoforums could be created for the photoblogs A.K.A. every day bump threads IMO. This cleans up the urban showcase section so you don't see the same threads all the time. You also give others the opportunity t o show their pictures. Otherwise their photothread will be bumped off the front page within half a day.. What do you think of this?
^^
I think this is a good idea too. I don't think there is anything wrong with photoblog type threads but if there are too many of them they crowd out the other stuff. I think having the same 15 threads at the top of the forum every day reduces traffic to the urban showcase. This forum should be the centerpiece of the photo section but usually it has the fewest people viewing it.
I think it would be a good idea for people to consider posting bigger batches less often in their photoblogs, to allow other threads to hang around a bit without being pushed down so fast. Everyone is pretty proud of their photothreads, so we should try and give respect to others, too. If we update our threads several times a day, they will remain on top, but it is not really fair to others.
Happy New Year, everyone, and a big thanks to everyone who has contributed to these photo forums over the past years. I am constantly amazed at the photographic talent out there, and have learned much about many cities around the world!
What is it you want to post? If you have your own photos, you can post them in Urban Showcase section. If they photos you have obtained elsewhere, make the thread in the Cityscapes and Skylines section, but be careful to credit where you got the pictures.
Welcome to the group!
I don't know exactly where to write it, but I please to remove the post of user harakara, who put some photos into my thread : "Wrocław - the phoenix is rising from the ashes".
I'll be thankful for the moderator's help.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
