Con el_hoffman preguntamos sobre cómo iba a ser la combinación y nadie nos supo explicar bien (sobre los niveles y los hoyos en las paredes). En la vista anterior, el año pasado, tampoco nos quedó claro eso. Al final vamos a tener que esperar hasta que se abra para saber.

South Ferry station finally reopening nearly 5 years after Sandy

The South Ferry subway station will reopen on Tuesday, nearly five years after the brand new station was destroyed by Superstorm Sandy.

The station was destroyed by 15 million gallons of salt water and sewage that flooded 80 feet high from the tracks to the mezzanine in October 2012. It destroyed all of the electrical and mechanical systems in the station, which was only two years old at the time.

The MTA reopened the old South Ferry station in April 2013 after figuring out that it would take several years to repair the new one. And once again, riders had to pile onto the first five cars if they wanted to be able to get off at that tiny, antiquated station.

It took $369 million to repair the station, which includes infrastructure to protect the site from future floods.

When the new station, which sits just a few feet from New York Harbor, opened in 2009, it had cost about $545 million to build. At the time, it was the first new station in the system to open since 1989.

MTA officials said they were delighted to have the station finally reopen.

“In the hours and days after the storm hit, New Yorkers were reminded just how vulnerable we are to Mother Nature and how dependent the region is on the MTA,” said MTA Chairman Joseph Lhota, who just came back to the role last week and was also at the helm when Sandy hit. “That’s why our efforts to harden the system to guard against these vulnerabilities is so critical not only for the transit network infrastructure itself but for the regional economy and more than 8 million customers who rely on us each day.”

Atene, 02 ago 16:35 - (Agenzia Nova) - La società Attiko Metro ha annunciato che punta ad avere la lista finale dei potenziali contraenti entro la fine del 2017. Il progetto sarà cofinanziato con fondi europei e della Banca europea degli investimenti (Bei). La stessa Bei ha individuato nella costruzione della quarta linea della metro di Atene come una delle priorità delle sue azioni di sostegno allo sviluppo della Grecia. I lavori di costruzione dovrebbero iniziare nel 2019 e durare per un periodo di otto anni. Secondo quanto dichiarato dal direttore gestionale di Attiko Metro, Theodoros Papadopoulos, a settembre sarà lanciata un altra gara per scegliere i contraenti che effettueranno i lavori preparatori prima dell'inizio della nuova metro.
