Public Meetings Calender Thread

This thread is reserved to be an up to date calendar of the upcoming public meetings of note with links to their respective threads.

If there is a meeting you think would be of note to the group you can either:

1. Post about it in this thread so someone such as Jason or myself can make a thread for it.

or

2. You can make the thread yourself providing the format is consistent. (format TBA)

The purpose of this thread is to make it as easy as possible to to keep track of when and where meetings are. Specifics about individual meetings such as who plans on going, what they plan on saying/doing at said meeting and the proceedings of the meeting during and after the fact will be kept to their specific thread in this sub forum.

PLEASE NOTE: Discussions of the actual projects should be kept to that project's respective thread in the other sub-forums. For example if you want to post about how you hate TBX and its design features post about it in the TBX thread in the Transportation sub-forum, not in the URBN sub-forum. If you want to discuss an upcoming, currently happening or past meeting about TBX post it in this sub-forum.

"Meetings" can range from workshops to public government hearings to even private events/seminars by renown experts.

707 Rome - January 7 (2nd hearing)
Ascentia Rocky Point - January 7 (2nd hearing)
Gas Worx - January 14
Bank of Tampa Office - January 14
Los Azoteas - February 11
103 Howard Surface Lot - February 11
Melville and Arrawanna South Tampa Townhomes - February 11
2801 Bayshore - February 11

The first event thread has been created. Please note the format of the thread title and its entry into the calender. Basically I envision three different types of events:

Seminars - events held by experts, mostly educational for our members in nature
Workshops - events for public input but ones in which no government decisions are being made
Hearings - council meetings or other government bodies convening to make decisions

#85 is somewhat interesting... An almost 100,000sqft expansion of Jesuit HS, across from Al Lopez Park.

Quote:
85. File No. REZ 14-23 - (UNAN)

(Ordinance being presented for second reading and adoption) - An ordinance rezoning property in the general vicinity of 4701 North Himes Avenue, 3408, 3406, 3404, 3402 and 3322 West Osborne Avenue, and 4612 and 4616 North Emerald Avenue, in the City of Tampa, Florida, and more particularly described in Section 1, from zoning district classification(s) RS-60 (residential single-family) to PD (planned development, school); providing an effective date. - (Original motion to approve said ordinance on first reading had been initiated by Suarez-Capin on June 11, 2015 including that the site plan be amended to include the revisions specified by Abbye Feeley, Land Development Coordination.)

And that lousy storage project along Rome Ave in North Hyde Park area.

And here we go again with the auto-centric parking requirements in walkable urban corridors...

Quote:
93. File No. E2015-8 CH 27

Review hearing on petition for review being filed by Ghasemi Revocable Trust, Susan Johnson-Velez, Esquire, regarding a decision of the Variance Review Board, VRB15-23, pertaining to property at 2907 W. Kennedy Boulevard. - (Rescheduled from May 7, 2015)
Someone is trying to fix up a 65yr old building on west Kennedy (at 2907)

The auto-centric parking code requires 18 spaces to do commercial on this old property, but there are only 4 spaces in the front, though there is alleyway access to the rear of the property, where I presume more parking could fit.

The city seriously needs to fix this crap along corridors it says are targeted for walkable urban development. Requiring 18 parking spaces on a lot barely big enough to hold 18 cars if there was no building on the lot is insane, and is the anti-thesis of what walkable urbanism is.
