Wates to revamp Goldfinger tower

http://www.constructionenquirer.com/...dfinger-tower/

Quote:
Trellick Tower in Kensal New Town will benefit from a £7.2m restoration programme. Work will include the repair, renovation and replacement of the Grade II listed building’s concrete, cladding and approximately 1,000 windows.

Trellick Tower was designed by Hungarian Modernist architect, Ernö Goldfinger and was built in 1972 as part of the Brutalist architecture movement that arose from the 1950s to the mid 1970s.

The tower became the inspiration for JG Ballard’s novel High Rise, which was made into a film starring Tom Hiddlestone in 2015.

Wates will first commence work on the six-storey Block B, which will be followed by the external refurbishment of the 31-storey Block A in June this year.

Overall completion is expected by summer 2018.

Please post you images on the London sub forum before you post it on the main thread, thank you, (Includes articles) it opens it up for debate without making this thread look messy - also keeps the thread looking neat and orderly.

High-rises in London seem to be growing like mushrooms after rain and I think they're giving the city a better, fresher look.

Vinci wins £30m Croydon’s Fairfield Halls makeover

http://www.constructionenquirer.com/...alls-makeover/

Quote:
Vinci Construction has landed the revamp of Croydon’s 1962-built arts venue Fairfield Halls in south London.

As the enabling strip out work draws to a close, Croydon Council’s development company, Brick by Brick, has engaged Vinci for the £30m main works contract.

Over the past 10 months, ground investigations, asbestos removal and strip back to walls and concrete floors has been completed.

With these enabling works now entering the final stages, Fairfield Halls is ready for its redesign. Vinci Construction UK will arrive on site this month, remaining until the venue reopens at the end of 2018.

Plans include a revamp of its 1,800-seat concert hall and modernising backstage areas.

Porto, please stop posting articles on the main forum, post it on the sub forum, thank you. (Your articles could have the wrong information or old information, if either we can discuss it over there than here - before publishing it on the main.) Forum etiquette.

I appreciate Porto's contributions here. This shouldn't be a one man show of SE9, even though his posts are great of course.
