Good spot Jesse! Just for comparison's sake:

Well it appears to look (ever so) slightly better than the render shows. This development was never going to be anything special.

Yeah, it's better than I feared. It doesn't make me nauseous and it appears to interface alright with both Charlotte House and the Harold's Marine Building. I can live with it. |

At least the carpark entry isn't too big. I still despair at the massive amount of prime street frontage used for some buildings for carpark entries, particularly Charlotte Towers and the Rio Tinto building (which must set a CBD record)

You're not wrong with 123 Albert's massive carpark entry/services entry. I really don't know how they got away with that, it's hideously large! At least they blocked off the existing laneway access otherwise it would be larger still. The blocked off section of laneway would be a good place for a pop-up coffee shop or cafe IMO.Anyway, I took some more photos earlier this week. Still not a stunner, but I'm still happier with the outcome than I though I would be! image hosted on flickr ![]() PA161469 by Nathan Murray, on Flickr image hosted on flickr ![]() PA161471 by Nathan Murray, on Flickr image hosted on flickr ![]() PA161473 by Nathan Murray, on Flickr image hosted on flickr ![]() PA161477 by Nathan Murray, on Flickr image hosted on flickr ![]() PA161479 by Nathan Murray, on Flickr |

Honestly, the rubbish that Metro Properties are turning out is far worse than this. Not as catastrophic as it could have been.

I think it looks very good for what it is, it suits that part of the city too.

Its a terrible design but the materials themselves look good. Im impressed to see what they could do with a nicer design.

It was only ever going to be filler anyway. As Marty said, there's worse things going up.

Nasty but fortunately not overly noticeable.

Saw the frontage finished for the first time this weekend and I'm going to swallow my pride and take back everything I said about the street level facade: it actually looks perfectly acceptable in my opinion and fits well with it's neighbours. A pretty good solution for this spot I say! It will be interesting to see what fills the retail tenancies here. There's the one at ground level and also a basement one I think.

It looks good. But it still makes me sad because I liked PJ O'Briens better, and also the history of bars like Adrenalin, Hogies, Transformers on that site. Many nights out there.
edit - just had to double check and the final name was Union Jacks. |

It actually looks really good (podium). What is going to be above the Lobby/retail at the bottom there? It's a shame it's so far from anything, I'm imagining Zara mannequins dressed to the nines up in there

Above ground is largely car parking (Midtown only has a single basement level, themajority of which is a retail tenancy I believe – would be good for a bar or restaurant) but I believe that the front part addressing the street will have the the manager's office, a gym and recreation space for the residents. You won't see any cars through the glass or anything
