Its about risk-return and opportunity cost of investment. Sri Lanka provide similar risk profile to Middle Eastern countries but Many middle eastern countries are growing if not at the same speed of Sri Lanka, faster. when they have the oppertunity between invest same amount of money in the known (therefore low-risk for them) market or in Sri Lanka for the same returns. The choice is obvious.

As for IRAN, there are so many restrictions moving dollers between Iran and other countries. Only way we could work on this is on barter deals. But I am pretty sure uncle sam has some way to control that too

True bro thanx to uncle sam we cant buy Iranian light crude oil which has less S % than saudi crude oil.and special discount for us too.and our Sapugaskanda oil refinary was upgrade for Iranian light under Iran loan. But if our officials are smart inaf we have 4 options.
1.buy Iranian oil through 3rd person
2.Ask US for aid or loan to build another oil refinary or expand currunt one .
3.Ask for permisson to buy oil from Iran ,UN (US) saing “we recently upgraded our only oil refinary for Iranian light so let us buy.becouse we can’t spend on Saudi oil.and it damages our refinary.”
4.Ask US to give us crude oil @ low price (lower than Iran)
2,3,4 should ask infront of the world so US cant refuse.
P.S.-but K.C. sadly our heads at CPC don’t want to develop this industry as you or me.they just want to eat it

I doubt the US will do anything. It's like killing two birds with one stone for them. One, Iran loses out on money from selling oil. Second, SL gets punished for moving away from the US and into the Chinese sphere of influence. The oil crisis only plays into the US hands providing them with leverage

But it is worth to try.If we get something its better than doing nothing and buy expensive saudi crude oil .IF we get nothing we only loose few sentences

Most NOCs in the Middle East are no experts - they are used to their limited geology and producing reservoirs from the same play type.

The exception to this is Saudi Aramco which is actually top class when it comes to using latest tech to extract oil.

Hmm! Saudi Aramco is one good option. Its state owned company too so it makes easy to talk.MR should use his strong friendship to drag those companies to here.(not only to vote in UNHCR only). As I heard oil @ middle east will finish before 2050.So this is win-win project. And what I fear is ,when oil is near to finish world is working fast on find next source of energy. If they succses before we find our oil there will be no market in future (nucler power, solar power)even now world is moving fast into electric vehicles. We have to find our oil wells ASAP,becouse this is the PEEK.Crain India works so slowly.and Im pretty sure India don’t allow us to ask China or US for dig our NW sea.so the best choices are AUSTRAILA ,EUROPE or MIDDLE EAST

Sad reality for most things in Sri Lanka. Too many greedy, short sighted fools.
