That's right. When it announced the sale of the Market St store and consolidation of all departments into Elizabeth St, Woolworths Holdings said the new DJs Elizabeth St store will have 11 floors.

Would have liked to see new glass awnings. The chunky old rusty dark things don't exactly enhance the heritage value of the building itself and really detract from the streetscape.

So why are they allowed to chop them up to create the new corner entrances then?

No mention of it in the DA? Are they staying in part of the Market Street building?

Curious pairing of Smith and Newslink since they are so similar. Smith also own the Supanews business

They're on the opposite sides of the concourse, but nothing like a bit of healthy competition!

And I'm glad to see SOMETHING that'll be open nights/weekends near Wynyard again. Right now there's nothing.

Story time

The other week I missed my train and had a bit of a wait. So I thought I'd have a quick cheeky beer at the Concourse Bar. I've never been but I've just assumed it was a shitty dive bar. BOY AM I NOT THE TARGET DEMOGRAPHIC!

yeah I always saw it as a public toilet. Never ventured near it.

Apparently it's a sex club. Who knew?

I could be wrong, but I think the dark brown metal awnings are made of brass.
If it is, then DJs could easily polish that back to its original golden colour.
That goes for their other brass fittings around the windows and entrances.

You can see an example of what this could look like if you walk past the Hype DC shoe store on the corner of Market and Pitt Sts in the Myer/Westfield Building.

Westfield are equally guilty as DJs.
The brass fittings around the windows of Myer, Samsung, and Swissotel Sydney are all tarnished. It's a wonder they haven't followed Hype DCs lead.

There are numerous other examples of old brass trim windows in Sydney.

From the picture it looks like DJs will replace its original Market Street Entrance with a window (third window to the right of the new entrance).

Many people here bemoan restrictions heritage buildings pose to current businesses. But even these are severely inadequate.

If DJs managed to rip out a chunk of their Castlereagh St facade for that glass skybridge to Westfield, I guess they'll face very little opposition to ripping out other parts of the building to put in new entrances and replace old ones.

Should have taken a photo but the brass either side of St James' entrance has been polished up and varnished now

It's creepy down there when no one else is around. And no I have no noticed the sex club there.

I used to go down there in the 80's (to catch trains) and it was creepy then. Last visit it still is. But this looks really nice the clean up.

They’re run out of Melbourne now, don’t you know? According to the Sarth Efrican blow-ins running DJs, that’s Orstralia’s fashion capital.
