Critical service installation such as Communication should not be handled by a state-owned company other than PH-owned ones and China Telecom is a state-run company.

There's no need. Since the Vietnamese already did it for them http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/dutertes-of...nlotus-1646168

Is it not our own responsibility to make sure that our sensitive data are safe with firewalls and other web security measures. It is not fair to say that this is China's sole doing. Russia was accused with meddling the US elections. North Korea is also a threat.
Me and my wife are into stock market now. Even COL Financial (our broker) was once attacked and that was scary. We also just make sure that no passwords are saved in our laptops, tablets and phones.

It's just weird for me that there's concerns about spying now when American BPOs have been here since last admin. Those companies have direct access to our internet and telecoms, was there any concern for spying at that time?

With the news that the US FCC repealed Net Neutrality, is it a blessing in disguise we're getting Chinese internet? It's a bad comedy.

But then again, worries may be unfounded because before Net Neutrality, the internet was fine.
