here are some pictures of port colborne. i took all of these during their canal days festival, which was july 29 through august 1.
looking south down the welland canal towards lake erie. the small channel of the canal in the foreground is a section of the unwidened, original canal that was dug in the 1830's or 1840's (can't remember).
looking at some of the stores on west street, the historic road where port colborne's canal business and trade was done.
looking farther down west street, towards lake erie. some of the ships on display for people are visible.
looking east down clarence street. the bridge across the canal is barely visible in the background.
looking north up the canal from west street. the bridge carries traffic from clarence street.
looking north up west street. many of the ships on display are visible again.
some houses on victoria street, near the canal.
looking up king street towards charlotte street.
the north half of the lock 8 canal, one of the longest locks in the world. i believe it is 153 meters long.
the south half of the lock 8 canal.
looking north up the canal from the bridge that carries main street across the canal, near lock 8 park.
