Nashville has got one of the best looking skylines in the southeastern US. Visited a little while ago in December and was pleasantly surprised by the skyline and all the buildings being built.

Can't wait to see how it looks in the near future!

It already is the most and more is being added.

One Nashville Place was built in 1985 and it looks like it was just built.

It is a good thing they didn't go the route of dated looking gothic style architecture or the even worse looking art deco style like those of other cities in the region.

Nashville International Airport is poised to land a direct flight to London on British Airways, culminating a multiyear effort by government, business and tourism leaders to secure the flight. An announcement is expected as soon as next week, sources told The Tennessean.

Nashville hasn't been a nonstop destination for London since the mid-1990s.

As the city's leisure tourism business has boomed, stakeholders including the Nashville Convention and Tourism Corp. and Ryman Hospitality Properties have advocated for the flight.

In order to secure the deal, incentives are likely to be included. Gov. Bill Haslam, whose administration has bulked up tourism marketing to lure international travelers to Tennessee, is expected to be at the center of the announcement.

Haslam's office did not respond late Thursday to a request for comment. Nashville Mayor Megan Barry's spokesman did not immediately answer a request for comment. Airport Authority spokesman Tom Jurkovich said he could not confirm or deny the direct flight to London and declined to comment further.

When Nashville was a hub for American Airlines 30 years ago, the city had a direct flight to London. American Airlines ended that arrangement with Nashville and the flight went away.

Three years ago, it was widely reported that Nashville was one of five finalists for a direct flight on British Airways.

As part of its planned $1.2 billion expansion called BNA Vision, construction is already underway at the airport for an interim international arrivals building.

In 2016, the Nashville International Airport was the fastest-growing airport of its size in the nation, the airport recently announced. The Tennessean

Business at the Nashville airport is at an all-time high with more than 13.5 million travelers for the fiscal year ending on June 30. That marked an increase of over 1 million passengers from the previous 12 months.

I love Nashville. Pretty cool town. Pretty modern but with a nice historic kind of culture to it. Tons of growth, nice skyline. Definitely the flagship city of Tenn. Southeast as a whole is booming and has been for sometime. Nashville is like Charlotte in that it seems bigger than it actually is. And both seem to have learned from Atlanta, and are growing in a more healthy way. More dense as oppose to sprawl on top of sprawl. Atlanta has like 500k and 5.5 million metro. Nashville has 700k w/about 2 million metro and Charlotte has 850k w/ 2.5 million metro. That's how you grow

Nashville and Charlotte are two of my favorite cities to check up on. Same with Denver. Each of these cities has some major transformations happening and it's cool to see. That being said, how about some updates on some of these projects?!

I've been in Nashville very infrequently the last month or so due to work travel. I'll try to do more updates with the latest news on projects when I'm back in town for more than a few days.

Many of the major projects are turning out well, though. I love this image shared by a poster on UP. JW Marriott is making an incredible impact.

And I am EXTREMELY sorry about the size. This is SO FRUSTRATING. I had been using Photobucket for all my photos for so many years, now they want $400 per year to continue. I realized the size issue after it was too late, but decided I had better post and update, regardless of size

The images will resize nicely on mobile ......

Unlike other cities whose images are posted ad nauseum you can see how much downtown Nashville is developing literally by the month. Take for example Charlotte is frequently posted and they all look like the same picture.
