Think we're getting some idea of what the renovation of Main Plaza is going to look like, at least this is one portion fronting Main St

First renovations to Main Plaza could start as early as in a couple of months and will take place at Hollywood 20.

Quote:
The group said the renovations to the theater property would include “state of the art technology, luxury reclining leather chairs and a modern bar and lounge area.”

The improvements will reduce the number of screens at the theater from 20 to 11. Renovations could begin in early fall. It is unclear whether the theater will remain open during construction, Biter said.

A release suggests the theater improvements are the first step toward more changes at Main Plaza. The 8.5-acre property has more than 250,000 leasable square feet, and the owners say they plan to consider new tenants next.

The Grande offers a superior waterfront location while providing access to the Ritz-Carlton hotel through a private covered walkway. The Grande Residences will be surrounded by the region's newest high-end, mixed-use development, including a boardwalk, marina, waterfront park, restaurants and shops.
Haven't heard anything, but it looks and reads like the Grande may have been incorporated into the Quay project. It certainly sits on the exact spot and is similarly oriented as one of the towers on the Quay site plan.

It might be a bit much if the original location for the Grande was constructed, right between the ritz carlton, and the quay project.
That being said, i'm not opposed to it. However, being on the rooftop pool area of the Westin last week, it would block the view of the water, and the sunset, with the buildings being that close to each other.
It may be a bit much for sarasota, the "old" people are already having heart attacks over all of the construction.

I think the proximity of the planned projects is what most likely led to this potential consolidation. They would have been right on top of each other in an area where that level of density is not necessary. The residences would also become much more attractive to the buyer with the immediate connection to the Quay and Ritz.

Should we get a separate thread going for The Mark or leave it all here? We're going to get regular updates similar to The Vue. A video update was released.

An update on Lakewood Ranch Waterside Development

Lorraine Road extension opens to connect University Parkway-Fruitville Road

Developer Schroeder-Manatee Ranch marked the widening of 3.5 miles of Lorraine Road connecting University Parkway to Fruitville Road on Wednesday, clearing the way for developing its Lakewood Ranch property in Sarasota County.

Significantly, with Hurricane Irma bearing down on Florida, it also opens a new north-south alternative to Interstate 75.

Lorraine Road is now open from State Road 64 in Manatee County to Fruitville Road in Sarasota County.

Additional Lakewood Ranch Waterside road extentions

Other roadways under development

Deer Drive
Schroeder-Manatee Ranch had completed Deer Drive, which runs from University Parkway southwest to the future extension of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard, but now is making some slight modifications to the roadway.
South of where Pulte Group is developing Waterside’s first residential community, Shoreview, contractors are adding a roundabout design. In the future, the roundabout will provide access into Waterside Place, the major commercial center for Waterside at Lakewood Ranch. It will feature apartments and a mixture of dining, retail and business offerings.
Deer Drive is blocked just south of the entrance into Shoreview, and it could remain that way indefinitely, Bedford said, noting the road doesn’t connect to a functional road yet.
Deer Drive services The Out-of-Door Academy, Lakewood Ranch Baptist, Shoreview and a few homes in the Sarasota Polo Club.

Boulevard extension
As part of development approvals for Waterside at Lakewood Ranch, developer Schroeder-Manatee Ranch is required to extend Lakewood Ranch Boulevard south to Fruitville Road.
SMR has finished the design, but Sarasota County continues to finalize deals for land needed to build the road.
The Lakewood Ranch Stewardship District executed agreements with seven property owners in summer 2016 that set forth conditions associated with the roadway’s construction. Sarasota County has been negotiating for the purchase of the land since that time. Four parcels are still under negotiations, a Sarasota County staff member said.
Construction of the road can’t begin until the right of way has been acquired.

A new project is in development as part of the Hyatt Regency in downtown Sarasota.

From an announcement for workshop on right-of-way vacations:

Quote:
In the future, the applicant will seek to use the area of the vacated rights-of-way for a portion of a condominium development. It is anticipated the condominium will be a residential and commercial mixed-use project, 18 stories in height with 80 to 90 residential units and include various Hyatt Regency-related uses
and amenities such as a day spa, additional parking, a new central energy center and new loading docks. The future condominium site would take up approximately 1.40 acres of the Hyatt’s approximately 5.86 acres
Should be interesting to see how this develops, especially in relation to the Quay.

Haven't heard anything, but it looks and reads like the Grande may have been incorporated into the Quay project.
Update on The Quay, this is now official. The Grande at the Ritz Carlton will be the first phase of The Quay. They anticipate construction to start in the first quarter of 2018 with buildout in 2020.

Quote:
The Grande is a 73-unit residential building. The project will also feature a 159-space parking garage and, in a separate building adjacent to the condo, a 9,900-square-foot restaurant. The project will be built in collaboration with The Kolter Group, the developer of Vue Sarasota Bay and The Mark in downtown Sarasota. Kolter originally filed plans for The Mark last year, hoping to build the project on the Ritz-Carlton property. GreenPointe President and CEO Ed Burr said Kolter approached the company about relocating the proposed development to the Quay property. Burr said the new site would still allow for access to the Ritz-Carlton, with a pedestrian bridge along the waterfront connecting the two sites. “We have embraced connectivity for the public,” Burr said.

Regarding the Hyatt Regency project, saw massing and floor plans among the development package. No rendering yet, but it's something.

There hasn't been a public announcement as far as I know, only found out about it due to a public workshop announcement for street and right-of-way vacations on the property. Then received the notification of the development application. Assume we'll get an article as soon as the Observer or Herald-Tribune learns what the workshop is about.

As far as I can tell, the project is being developed by Kiran Patel and the investment group that bought the Hyatt Regency. If I remember the application correctly, believe it is being designed by the same architect that did Beau Ciel.
