Richmond's definitely got some impressive ones. Didn't even know about the Egyptian Building and the Markel Building. I like that old parking deck from the 1940's or so (it wasn't listed).

Here are a few from Charlotte I dig (aside from BOA and Hearst):

City Hall

Charlotte Coliseum (now known as Bojangles Coliseum)

Calvary Church

Charlotte Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Building

Great Aunt Stella Center (formerly East Avenue Tabernacle ARP Church)

Interstate Tower

Westin Hotel

McGlohon Theatre (former First Baptist Church)

Calvary Church in Charlotte looks pretty neat.
And I love how they changed the name to Bojangles Coliseum as Bojangles is probably my favorite take-out chicken restaurant.

Haha. The thread was supposed to be for things you wont find anywhere else right...

From what I understand some eccentric millionaire built it for his wife.

I would amend Louisville's to include:

City Hall:

What is so fascinating about this building, and why I posted such a large picture, is the detail on the facade. Above the windows on the second floor are busts of various livestock. This was put in to pay homage to Louisville as a marketplace: where the rural community came to sell their products. In the transit at the top is a bas relief of a railroad that is heading south. At the time, Louisville was a gateway to the south, and was the place where the Midwest industry shipped their goods to the post-war South. Also, the clock tower was originally built as a watch tower for fires. Ironically, City Hall caught on fire, and was completely missed by the watchman. It was rebuilt as a clock tower later. I just love this building.

The Cathedral of the Assumption

And, while I don't find it architecturally significant, I really like Preston Pointe

Love Louisville's City Hall....

Question: Were there originally supposed to be other watchtowers/clock towers on the other corners of the building? Kind of looks like it would look cool with another one to balance it. But its a great looking building either way. And the faced is beautiful. I love old buildings with intricate facades and ornamentation.

I like Louisville's city hall and wasn't aware of those architectural details. Pretty cool.

I know there is another city hall, but I think its still city offices? Maybe I'm totally wrong.

You're absolutely right about the water tower. Can't be lieve I left that out.
