Inside China’s Plans for World Robot Domination

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...robot-industry

Bloomberg News
April 24, 2017, 11:00 PM GMT+2
Some 800 robot makers seek scale as Chinese industry automates
JD.com, E-Deodar and Midea lead China’s charge for domination

China is embracing robotics with the same full-on intensity that’s made it a force in high-speed rail and renewable energy. Beijing economic planners view it as a stepping stone to a broader strategic goal: dominating emerging markets for artificial intelligence, driver-less vehicles and digitally-connected appliances and homes. “China has a great history of being an effective fast follower,” said Colin Angle, chief executive officer of Bedford, Massachusetts-based vacuum and defense robot maker iRobot Corp. “The question will be “‘Can they innovate?’”

Standing in the way are established robotics superpowers like Japan, South Korea, Germany and the U.S. Yet China has three big advantages--scale, growth momentum and money. It’s home to the world’s fastest-growing robotics market and vast manufacturing sector where companies are under pressure to automate. China overtook Japan in 2013 in unit sales domestically. Guangdong province, for example, announced in 2015 plans to offer 943 billion yuan ($137 billion) in subsidies to about 2,000 local companies, including both robot makers and those making autos, home appliances, and construction materials, that are looking to automate their plants.

Robots: China Breaks Historic Records in Automation – IFR Forecast 2020 Predicts Strong Increase

http://www.businesswire.com/news/hom...tion-%E2%80%93

August 16, 2017 07:05 AM Eastern Daylight Time
FRANKFURT, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--China has rapidly become a global leader in automation. From 2018 to 2020, a sales increase between 15 and 20 percent on average per year is possible for industrial robots. Annual sales volume has currently reached the highest level ever recorded for a single country: Within a year, sales in China surged by 27 percent to 87,000 units (2016). At the same time, Chinese robot manufacturers expand the market share in their home country. These are results published by the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) ahead of the World Robotics Report 2017 to be released on September 27th.

“China is by far the biggest robot market in the world regarding annual sales and regarding the operational stock,” said Joe Gemma, President of the International Federation of Robotics (IFR).

Electrical and electronics industry are the main drivers

The robot technology is advancing day by day as in future the robots will have the ability to thinking and they will get the status of Artificial human beings. These robots will be like a human being which has four stages of life childhood, boyhood, younger and old their ability to take self-decision and execute will make them like real human being.

Outright banning things doesn't work. Look at drugs, or other illegal paraphernalia for that matter. As long as there's a demand, there will always be a supply.
