I think it is too easy to underestimate the quality of the architectural design of this tower.

Hope os CUL. While i know the interest in central areas is still strong, they can't be taking a very likely change in the economy lightly. Especially with nutter like Trump and Kim Jong-un around. Then again if there is a WW3 tall towers is the last thing on anyone's mind

33-35 Pitt Street retail has been cleared out and boarded up. Ready for a big 2018.

It’s all happening. That was a nice building in its day, with its internal atrium.

This is where I am convinced we need to aim for designs that have a chance of truly standing the test of time. It would never occur to any of us to get rid of Australia House - and probably ditto in years to come with Gehry’s UTS or 200 George St (less so for its exterior than for the intricate detail of its timber and stone work) etc etc. Real quality and originality speak for themselves. But yes, that is what makes the impending Sirius demolition so tragic.

Such a loss of a hideous building is tragic. What will we hate once its gone?

Pitt Street was/is full of ugly old buildings, easily some of the worst architecture in Sydney. Not referring to the particular example necessarily but i'm glad these are going. Will turn one of the dirtiest, least pleasant streets in the CBD to something much nicer.
