Renny Harlin`s film impresses spectators
15.04.11
Renny Harlin`s movie on the Georgia-Russia August war in 2008 has closed the Valencia international movie festival on Thursday. `The most emotional picture, which describes real events,` the spectators were commenting after the show.
They said the people will be able to see what really happened in August in Georgia by watching the Five Days of August.
The director Renny Harlin said he dedicated the first night show to the memory of the late president of Poland Lech Kaczynski. He said Mr. Kaczynski was one of those European leaders, who arrived in Georgia in the hardest days of the country`s recent history and stool beside Georgian people then. The film makers say the movie will be successful around the world.

Quote:

Traffic from Georgia to Russia blocked due to adverse weather
Quote:
The traffic from Georgia to Russia has been blocked in connection as a result of adverse weather. The Georgian road department told Trend that snowfall is being observed on the Gudauri-Kobi and Stepantsminda-Lars sections, a road leading to the Lars checkpoint on the Georgian-Russian border of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars highway.

Movement of all kinds of vehicles has been prohibited because of the danger of avalanches and strong winds. As soon as there is no avalanche risk in this section, the snow-ploughs will clear the road. It should be stressed that there are a lot of cars in this section. They are mostly moving through Georgia from Armenia to Russia.

A memorandum 'On cooperation in the sphere of ferry transport between Georgia's Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and Romania's Ministry of Transport' will be executed on Friday in Tbilisi.
The document will be signed by Georgia's Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Mikeladze and Romania's Deputy Minister of Transport Marian Buitsa, Georgia's Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development told Trend.
"The visit of the Romanian delegation and execution of a memorandum of mutual understanding will contribute to restoration of the ferry connection between the ports of the two countries in the near future which in turn is a prerequisite of growth in Georgia's port cargo turnover, development of transit potential and creation of new working places," the ministry said.
The Romanian Ministry of Transport delegation led by the Deputy Minister Marian Buitsa arrived in Georgia on October 23.
During the visit, the delegation examined Batumi and Poti ports, as well as held a meeting of the bilateral working group on the restoration of the ferry train between Romanian Constanta port and Georgian Batumi and Poti ports. Proposals of interested private companies interested in operating the ferry routes were viewed.

New ferry service connects Georgia and Bulgaria

It’s been four years since a ferry connected Georgia and Bulgaria but this week a new sea service opened to reconnect the two countries.
On Monday Druzhba’s Ferry resumed travel between Georgia and Bulgaria, which boasts the shortest route from Georgia to Europe.
"Restoration of the ferry service will help Georgian exporters deliver their products to European markets at the lowest cost,” said Temur Bakradze, director of the ferry service Eurasia Roro Line.
A passenger and freight ferry connecting Poti Black Sea Port to Varna, Bulgaria has launched, with the ferry able to accommodate travellers and vehicles.
Bakradze stressed a Russian port would be added to the sea route on October 1, which would give the opportunity for Georgian exporters and regional carriers to connect with Russia "in the shortest way”.
The last ferry voyage between Bulgaria and Georgia was carried out in 2010.http://agenda.ge/news/19811/eng

Boris Akunin thinks about emigrating from Russia
02.09.14

Georgian-born Russian writer Boris Akunin thinks of moving from Russia. Akunin has posted on his blog that many people think to emigrate from Russia due to its military intervention in Ukraine.
`I have no connection to the Russia of Putin`s regime, everything is strange for me there,` Akunin wrote on his blog and slammed that part of the Russian society, which supports the current leadership of Russia.
`I have no intention to emigrate from Russia, but I will definitely spend most of the time abroad,` Akunin wrote.
