this one is the entrance to rue Catinat, Tu DO street, now Dong Khoi
"Đồng Khởi giết Tự Do, Nam Kỳ Khởi Nghĩa tiêu CÔng Lý"
haha so funny how it seems like we had a lot more cars back then than we do now, what a shame. But the most shameful is how there were lots more pedestrian walking than today, people getting lazy and have to a use a moped just to cross the road, cheeze, how lazy can we get? (but I'm lazy too so I can't complain)
ngươi dân miền nam ấm no cuộc sống
look food stalls and outdoor market with nice roof over then, all seems to follow a guideline of some sort. Also look at how the traffic is, well organized. Did "winning" the war made the VC gov. too excited and went crazy? An unorganized, unmanned, unrestricted, unguided country.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the law in vietnam is as good as propaganda murals. Rank and Green is your ticket out of anything. haha.
If you look at pretty much all Southeast Asian countries, they turn out all like that : philippines, thailand etc. Everything seemed so orderly in the 60s and 70s, and got really chaotic.
The way I see it, what is done is done. People can cry, complain, nag all they want but that's really not going to do anything useful for anybody. For Vietnam right now, there is only way way to go and that is up. There is no possible way this progress can be reversed- so what's the point in crying about the past? It just shows backwards thinking.
When, when will Vietnam go up? You have to hold this people accountable for their mistakes and 35 years is a long time. JFK once said, "I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to the Earth. This decision demands a major national commitment of scientific and technical manpower, material and facilities, and the possibility of their diversion from other important activities where they are already thinly spread. It means a degree of dedication, organization and discipline which have not always characterized our research and development efforts" and we all know what happen. I don't want to hear anymore excuses. hno:
