It is hard to believe that the light pink would not be an undercoat.

Surely the decision was not made that this would be a good colour to leave on the concrete wall.

Let this be a cautionary example of the devastating affects that drugs can have on an already very comprised and simple mind.

If it looks like nothing more than a concrete primer - it probably is.

I thought so as well, but I'm not so are now. I took a look at the final render on the website and the walls are that pink. But so is the glass, so it all kind of works. In reality the glass is a much darker shade with a touch of copper to it, so there is too much contrast. Maybe a lot of paint was ordered at the beginning and now just has to be used!

But then there is that darker tone? The one they ‘seemed’ to be testing - surely that is the final tone! Please!!

To think, that the back side of Avant will also be covered up by another building in the future. Appreciate it while you can

Redden, You sure were lucky to get a burst of sunshine why taking your awesome photos of Avant apartments block.

l just want to say thanks for going out your way to take all these awesome photos, you posted on here covering so many projects in the CBD-Southbank-Docklands-St Kilda & Queens Rd and South Yarra and not forgetting West Melbourne.

It is so good of you to keep all of us skyscraper fans up-dated with every project throughout inner Melbourne and the CBD and Docklands much appreciated.

What would we do without you who knows keep up the professional photography, that you must really enjoy doing.

Bluey, I think you're the most complimentary person in this forum. Thanks from all of us for your support.

I hope that doesn’t go ahead. I love the basketball court and street vibe of the area for students. It’s a great atmosphere and unique space.

The darker and deeper tones as Avant reflects on itself are even more reason to not go with this pink paint.

It's not just the RMIT plans for the courts site, Atira have plans for a student tower on the narrow site between Avant and the courts. This, below, on 18.4.17, in the "banter" thread.

[QUOTE=redden;139560715]Encouraged by the sunshine, I set out to take photos and discovered that the sites weren't working. I did notice that they were putting up a sign on the long, narrow warehouse building sandwiched between Avant and the basketball courts in A'Beckett Street. Atira.com is the student accommodation group behind the under construction 42 La Trobe Street and the proposal for the corner of Peel Street and Flemington Road. The Atira website is claiming 2018 for both projects, which seems a bit ambitious for the second project, as they haven't started yet. Avant is going to be sandwiched between MY80 and the Atira building, but at least some of Avant's bare concrete will be hidden.
