Great pics. I think I remember reading about this. Tower Hamlets in their wisdom blocked it? Thankfully it must have passed on appeal if the same one.

The ugly little ibis around there can't be long for this world.

the most obvious view of them merging into a cluster will be from the East - taken tonight though not sure if Horizons would show from here

Very respectable and acceptable. Nothing grand but considering the site and neighbouring area they would have to go tall (but not tall enough).

On what ridiculous grounds would Tower Hamlets block something as innocuous and inconspicuous as this, unless they wanted more social housing.

I think he was mistaken as this project sailed through planning and even got a height increase. The original scheme was around the 15floor mark I think. Not bad little filler and helps to draw CW with the little resi cluster around here closer together.

The Helix towers should start next year as well which, as was noted above leaves the nasty small windowed IBIS surely on developers radar for another tower. It could probably be demolished in a week and not missed by anyone.

A very neat looking tower. Should be a good addition to this rapidly transforming area.

Should this be moved to the construction thread?

It's giving a very blank street frontage though, could have done with a retail unit or two there!

Why couldn't they have built 3 or 4 of that round building with the slanted roof and blue LED strip. One on its own is not enough, would have looked great with more of them at varying heights. Seems in the UK no1 likes symmetry all that much, everything has to be random, rarely have the same style of flats/apartments/offices next to each other. This is a mess of different styles. I'd like a bit of London to be in the style of Dubai, elegant buildings of different styles positioned carefully with smooth pathways and perfectly cared for lawns. For me, this type of style would go well along the Thames, and would be ideal for Canary Wharf seeing as this area already has a number of similar styled oblong buildings clustered together, symmetry already exists here and can expand outward, but it seems that isn't going to happen.

Visual repetition with regard to towers is often considered in unfavourable terms, due to the impact that sink estates have had in the city and country.
