It is incredible, really incredible how insensible can be today's people to true beauty. many people prefer the Imperial Forum in Rome over the Roman Forum just because...the first is better conservated! Ruins are beautiful, are gorgeous, but in our packed society, disneyan beauty is seen as more "picture friendly", and it seems to prevail on an aesthetical level. How low we have fallen, in Piranesi age ruins were seen as most beautiful, because they were natural objects (rocks) sculptured by men and then left to the time and the nature to continue the work.
The human-nature-arts links it is what makes them special. What's the problem of ruins? That they're not "pop" enough for our society? That there is no clean white shining plastic on them? C'mon! We cannot achieve a more decent society aesthetically speaking until we will not completely reconsider the beauty and the magnificence of ruins... To demonstrate the fact, I'll show you not a disneyan picture, but a 360° visit that shows you the magic and the atmosphere of ruins... http://www.360cities.net/it/image/fo...8.30,7.38,80.0 http://www.360cities.net/image/2011-...95,-10.73,63.1 http://www.360cities.net/image/forum...91,-29.68,70.0 http://www.360cities.net/image/templ...2.47,8.60,70.0 http://www.360cities.net/image/roma-...7.46,2.59,70.0 ![]() ![]()
