Are Americans still welcome in Israel?

This may sound like a dumb question, but I have never been to Israel before. My goal is to visit some of the places Christ walked, maybe touch something he touched. I would also like to see some of the country, places that won't be real crowded if possible.

Are there many Americans living in the country?

Absolutely! Tourists from all countries are welcome, and Americans especially.

There are many Americans living in Israel.

There is also many Americans who are running tourist lines and cater to other Americans who are visiting Christian holy sites.

Unlike most of the Middle East where its engulfed in flames and ravaged by violence..Israel is different. You shouldn't have a problem, even going by yourself. The only awkwardness you would feel is being hassled by a shopkeeper to buy souvenirs. Other than that your a free man.......

Is there any church organizations that plans flights to Israel as a group?

Washington State?

I am familiar with Church things that go on in BC if that helps.

There is a group of priests that take aboriginal/first nations/eskimo people to Israel every year from Canada.

But seriously.....if your a guy, id say just go to a book store, grab the lonely planet on Israel and go by yourself........ I love going off alone...lots of protection and you can tag along with an english speaking tour group like i did in the old city

Christianity and Islam are two sides of the same coin. And both were very harmful to Humanity, probably 2 of the main disasters on Earth!
Question everything you hear and read!!!

Supposedly, this is an impression of his hand (located along the Via Dolorosa- the route he walked through Jerusalem on the way to his crucifixtion)

Madao: Don't mind Kappa, he likes trolling Moroccans for some reason :P

Cmdan: While I'm not sure how many items that Jesus touched survive to this day, nor how we can be sure that he touched them, there are definitely some places were it is precisely known that Jesus walked. The Via Dolorosa is probably the most precise location that's known, and I saw that there were rituals performed there by tourist groups that seemed to create quite an atmosphere. I guess if you're very religious you should travel with other like-minded people so that you visit and do the things that interest you the most, instead of regular (lowest common denominator) tours.

Thanks Ynhockey, close is good enough. I'm not real religious, just starting to learn more about the man and what he did. Figured it would be a good adventure and see a place I haven't been before.

Your on the North American continent. Careful, people can get in trouble for talk like that now a days It is sad but true, with all the politically correct "stuff" going around.

Thanks everyone for the input. Looks to me like Late Jan to early Feb is the cheapest time to fly. Not sure I can make it that soon, but I am going to check.

Anyone know what the winters are like there? I am assuming it is winter there....

It is cool and raining (some of the time anyway).
Temperatures average around 50-60F.
Evenings can be cold (even close to freezing point).
Sometimes (very rare) there can be some light snow.
