..... & swearing, it ain't big or clever either, & if I had my way, seeing as children could also be looking at this kind of forum, I would have it banned.

If you swore like this is public, you could possibly be arrested for breaching the peace!

Its underway !!!

According to a Miller press release from March 2006

With planning permission for over two million square feet of mixed use development secured, Arena Central, the next major regeneration scheme for Birmingham city centre, is under way.

Developer Arena Central Developments LLP - a joint venture between Miller Developments and Bridgehouse Capital - will deliver offices, residential, retail and leisure accommodation including 2,100 car parking spaces.

Set around a new public square, which will form the centrepiece of the development, there will be up to four new office buildings totalling some 500,000 sq ft.

In addition to a new landmark residential tower containing approximately 500 units, a further residential zone will be created with four buildings containing a total of approximately 600 residential units, grouped around a second public space. It is anticipated that work will start on this £400m scheme during the second half of 2006.

"Arena Central is the next step in the development and regeneration of Birmingham's "west end" following on from the resounding success of Brindleyplace, the ICC and Symphony Hall.

"We have planning permission for over two million square feet of mixed use development and MIPIM will be a great opportunity to let everyone know about our plans for Arena Central and how our exciting scheme sits alongside other developments in the city." Steve Evans, Director of Arena Central Developments.

The 7.6 acre high profile site is bound by Suffolk Street Queensway, Broad Street, Bridge Street and Holliday Street and is immediately opposite the International Convention Centre and Centenary Square - one of Birmingham's most high profile public squares. It also incorporates one of the city's tallest buildings, Alpha Tower, a fully let 200,000 sq ft office block and the existing 284-bedroom Crowne Plaza Hotel.

its from the http://www.birminghammipim.co.uk MIPIM website

All the other sponsor developers have sites under contruction and have put there money where there mouth is !! funny that

Since when have 50 floors been put in a 130 metre building?

Nothings underway apart from the designing. I thought we knew that. Work will start next year but there will be nothing really visible.
