I would be surprised if this isn't rising out of the ground by fall.

More than half of $1M-and-up condos in tower on former Colonnade site — including a penthouse — are reserved

Quote:
More than 50 percent of the condominiums in the luxury tower planned on the former Colonnade restaurant have been reserved — though the developers are only launching a formal sales center this week.

Source: Tampa Bay Times

Quote:
More than half of the units — including a penthouse priced at nearly $5 million — are under contract in Tampa's newest proposed condo tower, Virage. Two months after sales began, the 71-unit project on Bayshore Boulevard ''is certainly exceeding our expectations," Jay Tallman, president of Sarasota-based Ascentia Development Corp., said Tuesday. "We couldn't be happier.''
...
So far buyers have contracted for about $60 million worth of units, including the 6,700-square-foot penthouse that could be Tampa's priciest condo in a decade if the sale goes through. Still remaining are the second penthouse and units starting at just over $1 million. Sales to date have pushed the 24-story Virage "fairly close" to the amount needed to begin construction, probably this fall, Tallman said.

Not much of an update, but basically says the condo tower is still on track for what has been the expected groundbreaking period.

Some interesting details of materials for the building on portal as of today. The third file shows Colonade on side street (Julia St.) so am I tripping or is Colonade coming back? Haven't heard any news of it. Called sales to see if it's true. Waiting call back. HMMM

Ok just spoke to sales. The answer is NO. Colonade will not be back. She said it was just a house that was owned by the Colonade. Laugh. She also said people were pulling up on the property to go to a restaurant and they thought Virage is a restaurant. lol

This may be headed toward a construction start soon. Drove by the site today, looks like they are shutting down the sales office, and what looked to be a core-sample drilling machine thing was on site.

Based off the article from early June a few posts up regarding their sales, it wouldn't surprise me if they're ready.

If there's core drilling I'll change the thread to "site prep."

Wish we could line up 4 or 5 more condos of this magnitude along Bayshore along with Water Street and River walk Tower. This would make Tampa look huge. But I'll still take what were getting.

They've applied for a building permit.

This is breaking ground today!

Virage Bayshore, a 24-story luxury condominium tower, will officially break ground Thursday on the former Colonnade restaurant site.

More than 60 percent of the tower's 71 units are reserved, representing $75 million in presales, developer Jay Tallman said. Tallman is principal of Ascentia Development Group, which is building Virage in a joint venture with Batson-Cook Development Co.

Man just incredible the amount if construction thats getting ready to start in Tampa. Exciting times to be a skyscraper enthusiast. And to think back in the day all we had was Park Tower . But that is even getting a makeover. There set to paint it white should be done early 2018.

^If I'm thinking correctly, since the end of the last boom in 2008, only four buildings over 20 floors have been built in Tampa, 2 on HI, Skypoint and the one on Franklin that's about to open. Within a few weeks or months we'll have at least the same amount of buildings going up at the same time as we had the entire last ten years-this, Channelside Club, USF, hopefully the hotel down there. Exciting times!
