I still wonder how it ties into the river walk. Doesn't look connected

It is completely connected; it's 50 feet from the river. I could be wrong, but I always assumed they would continue the riverwalk to North Boulevard Bridge.

The area b/w the building and the river will be used for paddleboard, kayak, and watercraft rental as well as the expanded Riverwalk and watertaxi pick up/drop off. There will also be the raw bar/seafood concept with outdoor seating in front of AW, a pavilion below the water tower, and a large outdoor courtyard area. Not sure how it could be any more connected.

Tampa Heights project gets $21.5 million in funding

Times Staff
Tuesday, September 19, 2017 11:59am

TAMPA --- The Tampa-based Heights Community Development District got a financial boost from a $21.5 million tax-exempt bond issue to fund the waterfront community being built along the Hillsborough River just north of downtown Tampa. Proceeds from the bond issue are expected to used for new roads, sidewalks, the Tampa Riverwalk and parking garages and other infrastructure work associated with the 43-acre development. The center of project is the historic Armature Works building, which is being transformed into the Heights Public Market, event hall, and co-working space and is due to open in November. Developed by Tampa-based SoHo Capital, The Heights will also include a boutique hotel, new green residences called The Pearl as well as retail and office space.

Does anyone know if this means we will start seeing other phases of the project start up? Armature works and Pearl have been U/C for a while, I was hoping to see other things pop up around it but it seems like they're just empty lots + staging areas for now...

My guess is yes, considering that I believe all the parking garages are connected to some type of development, be residential, office, or the hotel. So if it mentions parking garages will be built with the funding, I'm going to presume that's with the other component/s.

It's a phased project, and The Pearl is nearly done. They actually built it pretty fast all things considered.

Once Pearl starts welcoming residents we'll start hearing about new buildings.
