I know a lot of you guys think this sucks but it adds more people to the city limit. This could add about 400 new residents if it fills up. I'd like to see Tampa reach 440k in this decade. Tampa is getting more and more rental. Hope it goes to more owning in the future.

Whoops. I meant 400,000. I think that could happen.

Drove by the site today, groundwork has started and equipment was on the site. Also noticed that the West End was getting some work done.

It would be nice to see a 6 to 8 story residential complex go up on this property. I would still be happy with 4 floors (more realistic) as long as there is a built in garage and not sprawling parking lots like NOHO.. With the amount of space i guess it would have to have a garage. Anyway, this area has a lot of land to develop and I hope other developers take interest soon.

Just a rumor but possibly a brewery bought that particular lot and plants to have a brewery and restaurant on it

I will just add that the area surrounding is a wasteland, perhaps this will bring more new growth. Not every residential property needs to have retail, especially with so much development opportunities nearby for other mixed use to move in. Maybe some smaller 4 story buildings along the street with retail below to the west and south. With the addition of this many new residents, they will serve the existing nearby retail establishments and create new ones. Many retail storefronts are vacant still, leaving them out makes it simple. I would focus more on the surrounding properties and except this one for what it is, 'something'.

Ride past NoHo flats today, it's looking good, they've got vintage street lamps up, the area is coming together

I think the problem will be that there is an urban neighborhood pretty much popping up out of nowhere, and I haven't seen the city do much of anything to make sure it continues.

Doesn't sound nearly dense enough.

Very True, it seems the city has abandoned this area of town. When Vintage lofts was built is seems reasonable to expect some updates in the neighborhood would be done by now.

Perhaps the city needs to update the old utilities and is waiting to see what burden new development is going to hit that area, I see this as prime future residential real estate with decent density.

Don't count on it. There is an application to rezone some adjacent lots as single family, with a hearing scheduled for next February.

I really hate this council when it comes to progress in urbanization and everything else related. Held back the Riverwalk Tower, voted against good projects in SoHo, and will likely approve those single-family homes.

******* idiots. SFH right smack dab in a key corridor in the city which should be as dense or denser than all others. The land flanking I-275 between Westshore and DT is about as good as it's going to around here for some serious urban intensification. Anything less than 30-50 units an acre should be flat out banned.

Drove thru here yesterday. It looks like a sea of apartments and there's lots of empty spaces around there for more development. Its crazy how many apartments are u/c and how many are scheduled this year. Makes me wonder how many transients are here.
