And with the tower crane coming down we're back down to one tower crane in all of Tampa outside of the airport =(. Hopefully not for long.

Looks good. I kind of like the way the building sort of frames the Kress Building when looking north up Franklin.

Rocky Point will probably get one within the next month or two for Current.

Got some pictures: One from the Courthouse, one along Cass and two from Cass and Franklin.

Nine 15 looks good. Wish there had been a retail slip at the Cass/Florida intersection though. You got the bike lane and a good mix of uses and density there but that corner will always be dead.

Yes, I'm not sure why they chose to make the "back" of the building the side facing Florida Avenue.

Probably because of the highway of traffic running down Florida Ave...if you are going to choose a dead spot, this would be it...the opposite side of the building is much more pedestrian friendly IMO.

I get what people here are after but a busy one way street like this is hardly where I would want my business. I would love to see Florida converted from a one way at some point..

Indeed, the southbound road that goes along with Florida is equally dead and unattractive to business.

I wish the parking garage on this didn't look so much like a parking garage.

The renderings of the building show some decorative panels attached to the parking garage facade. Hoping they follow through with it, will at least dress it up a bit.

I think they're adding a screen/art thing over the garage.

Well the front had to be Franklin by default, and the developer didn't put enough retail in to wrap all the corners.

Florida will be turned over and made two way with a slower traffic pattern.

I think Florida is a state owned roadway, which means the DOT would have to be involved in any changes. We all know how accommodating they are on doing anything to enhance an urban area or doing anything that makes any sense.

I have doubts that Florida will ever change. With the increase in density, there will be concerns of egress from the core downtown so we will see what happens.

They did it because it is cheaper for the developer and the City does not care. No one seems to scared to walk or too scared to have a business on Tampa Street . . .

Traffic leaving downtown seems to increase in speed, by the time you reach Tyler...I notice a huge difference on the traffic speed going north on Florida than on Tampa which is usually much slower by the time you reach Tyler.

I am not saying for or against, just saying if I had to choose where I would put the retail spots, it wouldn't be Florida ave in this particular location...

I would put it on Tampa because it is closer to the river, museums and the accepted development pattern - but the roads have little to do with it. Try walking on tampa near the hyatt and south. No one is going slowly except a lost tourist. One of the busiest lunch spots in town used to be there (after it moved from Florida and Kennedy).

The speed is interesting but not as big a deal as it is made out to be especially with the small Tampa blocks giving tons of crosswalks and lights. A better focus would be making better street interaction.
