Great news for SP. Really like the sterile interior design, not like the ornate condos in Tampa on Bayshore. SP needs to bulldoze the $hitty little airport and then start developing over there too.

Looking forward to seeing this one go up. The hotel and ground floor retail should add some significant foot traffic to the downtown core.

And Albert Whitted will be here for a long time.

The office building on site has been demolished. Construction has begun way ahead of schedule.

Well demolition doesn't really mean construction.

Theyre site says its u/c. Most projects in st.pete usually go as planned. Vs Tampa which usually takes years.

Demo is not construction. A foundation being installed is.

Well when you see workers utilizing the whole site then I consider it construction. The demo is only on 1/4 of the property. But the workers are working on the entire site. Cranes and everything. But it's never to much to just get in the car and check it out yourself.

You're are very right. Just like a project isn't real or to be taken seriously unless ground has been broken

This one is under way, whatever a definition of "under construction" is. The entire site is being worked except for the remaining building that looks ready to come down. Also, the roads are being reworked on two sides of the project. That's a clear indication. Barring any funding issues in the future, this one is going.

Changed the status to site work.

I don't typically change to U/C without photo or visual evidence.

Cranes doing what exactly? Pics would be most helpful.

I've got spinal injuries that make it painful and sometimes physically challenging to drive, so it would be a very big deal for me.

Just so we're all on the same page, none of that sounds like actual construction of the building. Sounds like demo, utility and site work, all typical precursors to actual construction.

Nobody doubts it's getting built, but we don't change our thread titles unless we know it's correct.

Actual construction should be starting in the next few weeks for the hotel. The trailer still sits on site where the condo is to be. I'm sure it will start in the next few months.

I imagine both towers would go up before the middle parking and amenities gets filled in as what will structurally be separate. Otherwise, they'll be closing lanes and sidewalks for construction staging for a long time, which is lame.

So I googled One St. Pete this morning & Wikipedia says groundbreaking was on 11/11/15 & construction started on 11/17/15. From what I heard the hotel will have its own garage from ONE.
