Yes I asked about both towers since it's the same developer. So this should also answer Jason's question.

Ok, that's what I was thinking in the first place. Thanks for explaining.

Just sent an email to Related...Ugh! I don't like dealing with people in Miami but hopefully they will be nice and reply back.

"Questions about the Harbor Island tower in Tampa.

Will construction be starting on this soon? Is there anything that is holding it up? Has soil testing started yet? Does Related have any more plans for vertical towers in Tampa? I sure hope so and I really like the looks of this residential tower on Harbor Is.
Please reply at your convenience."

^To improve the chances of a favorable response, you should always pose as a prospective tenant.

Unless you have a credential you can drop, like being an officer of a nearby homeowner's association, the media or some such. (like when I used to do this, it was extremely effective to mention that I was admin and cofounder of SSC, and that a primary function of the site is grassroots advocacy for tall buildings. Developers of tall buildings really, really like to hear that. )

Thanks.
I usually tell them I'm interested in moving to DT or South Tampa.

I did get a reply from Related about the HI tower.

"Thank you for reaching out to us on the Harbour Island project.

We are in the process of permitting the project and anticipate breaking ground later this year.

Related currently does not currently have any more vertical towers planned for Tampa, but we continue to look for sites as we love the job growth and the City's vision for the future."

So lets hope the HI drama is over and they can start in a couple months.

Yeah, we could really tell by the bang up job you did at Pierhouse...

So the empty field should still be there and not the 500 plus residents. This is good density with parking garage and perfect for chanelside. The high rises are not the norm for this area.

In ten years I will say, remember that old empty lot!...There are plenty of 10 plus year old apartments in and around the area that are just as good or better today in terms of upkeep, maturity in landscape and tenants based on the areas incline culturally. Many of the new Tampa apartments are still in high demand and pulling high rents....

No, it will totally be out of place.

And you seriously think that plot of land would have stayed vacant for another decade? Not a snowball's chance and you know it.

We never know how the market is going to move at again there are so many yet to be developed plots in Channel side yet. I'll call this one at Pier house 'done'.

^yes, it is indeed done. And in time it's going to increasingly be seen as a missed opportunity to get the neighborhood right, instead of just doing the bare minimum, and hoping that the people paying big bucks to invest and live in the neighborhood don't mind being destined to live in a half assed built out neighborhood.

I see a bare minimum being single story or even two story homes. This is a 4 story with almost no street parking. Not sure what your thinking but it's not 'common' for sure.

What are you talking about? The property had to be DOWN zoned for the Pierhouse to even legally be built.

With whatever Vinik has planned for his land, a 4-story would had not been proposed and built for the land PierHouse sits on 10 years from now. Simply not. Add on that Cumberland Ave. won't be a small stretch of street and have more traffic flow, something taller and with more retail would had been planned.
