But why do they refer to it as "Neo Deco"? RAMSA's designs look literally nothing like 1930s Art Deco buildings.

1 Bennett Park is pretty obviously inspired by Chicago Art Deco buildings like 333 North Michigan:



The older buildings are obviously more detailed, but that's an unfair comparison.

I find the setbacks and massing at the top very pleasing. It's definitely New York City, but with a nod to Chicago. It fits in great in that area, especially if we assume that a more forward-looking, splashier supertall design will eventually sprout up at the former Chicago Spire site. Plus we have Wanda close by on the other side of the river. Not every tall building has to shout "Look at me!" at the top of its lungs - or else you get Dubai. Or London.

I do hope we actually see the level of detail and the lighting scheme shown in the recent renderings. I always dread how much will be "value engineered" out in the final result.
