Infrastructural work to turn Hawar Islands into a world-class tourist destination is expected to begin by the end of the year. Area MP Mohammed Al Dossari said that Hawar Islands were the perfect place to have recreational facilities - including new hotels, resorts and chalets.

"Most of Bahrain's beaches are now private lands while it is difficult to have facilities on those which aren't," he said. "Developing Hawar into a tourist destination will help provide people in Bahrain with a nearby destination to enjoy themselves in. Hawar is a virgin island, where such tourism projects could be developed easily.

"Bids for projects there will be issued in a few months time." Al Dossari said Southern Governor Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa was the person behind promoting Hawar. "Hawar will continue being protected as a natural habitat for various birds and animals, while at the same time it will become a place where people can enjoy their time," he added

No bahraini spirit who said im joking, im dead serious ok!! It ours... I can prove it.. if u take our old text books, and the old red little notebook.. bo erayel.. ull see the map of qatar on the cover and right next to it u'll see hawar.. soo... hawar is ours... we have proof.. the little red notebooks... viva le hawar...

Bus Bahraini, seriously, alot of ppl think that there is natural gas in that region. There isnt. Even if there was natural gas, its so little that it wont be economical to develop the infrastructure to export the gas. Im thinking the natural gas there is accompined by the oil fields of Duhkan, in western coast of Qatar.

Bahrain and Qatar are hilarious, In the early 90's both nations sent Naval personel to secure portions of the Hawar Island subsequently it was later discovered that the Naval contracts for both nations was given to Pakistan. When Pakistani Navy ships encountered each other one representing Bahrain and the other representing Qatar they laughed and headed back to manama and doha respectively. There was no CONFLICT HAHA, Its time both nations grew up before Saudi takes over hehe

Not a Joke,

My Father Taught at Ummul Qura University in Makkah Saudi 14 years ago, and he use to tell me it would get comedic when Qatari and Bahraini students wouldn't mingle with each other over HAWAR. The above story is well documented and others can verify for u, and as a Canadian muslim I too am a brother and find it hilarious to see arguments between two small muslim nations over an island!!

New coastal facelift pledge
MANAMA

Beaches, islands and the Tubli Bay will be developed and modern sea transportation provided, in line with the government's facelift projects for coastal areas.

The weekly Cabinet session, chaired by Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, yesterday approved a proposal, submitted by parliament.

Proposals to upgrade part of Hawar Islands as a tourist destination, spearheaded by Mumtalakat and to stop dismissal of Bahraini employees at Batelco and reinstate those laid off were also approved.
