I've visited Lahore Fort many times since I was a kid and every time I saw the place falling apart with chunks of masonry lying on the ground. Last time I visited was three years ago and it was the same, but maybe they're doing something now.

Example, who actually cares whether the relics and statues from Gandharan region are stolen, or if Moenjo-daro and Mehgarth have ever been properly preserved. I visit the Royal Ontario Museum often (I have free access to it ), and often find pieces from Pakistan, that seem to be very relevant to our history. It pains me to see them everytime.
Yeah, most old buildings are crumbling away with little or no effort at preservation.

I once told a friend about how the British stole most of our heritage and have massive amounts of Mughal-era artifacts stored in British Museum warehouses, and his comment was that it's better that they have it, because otherwise all that stuff would have been stolen and lost anyways.

Maybe one day we might be able to get the stuff back and build museums to display it.

Don't places like Taxila Museum have loads of old artifacts at display? Our teachers used to always talked about a trip there. But it never materialised.

Many interesting points raised here. Although Lahore airport is a good example.. it is still based on mughal period which is our heritage and not really 'ours'- if you know what I mean. Example of 'our' art would be the truck art. Maybe its time to take it a step further and incorporate into buildings... maybe start with building truck/bus stops which incorporate such designs/art.
