Rs 1200 crore flyover for Jamshedpur

Quote:
Jharkhand government and Tata Steel have designed a Rs 1200 crore flyover in Jamshedpur while the cabinet would soon approve an express way in the state.

"The design for east-west corridor for construction of a fly-over in Jamshedpur has been agreed upon with Tata (Steel company), which will connect the national highway," Chief Minister Arjun Munda today said here.

Addressing a function organised by the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Munda said the rest of the formalities were being completed.Approval for a new express way between Bokaro and Ranchi and connecting it to the Grand Trunk road in Dhanbad would come up in the cabinet shortly.
"We told the Centre to give no objection (certificate) for 3-4 NH road construction works to strengthen NH network," Munda added.

Jharkhand has also committed to give Rs 400 crore for a railway project to lay tracks between Kandra and Ranchi, he said.

Stressing on the need for fast transport for economic growth, Munda said he would soon meet the Defence Secretary to sort out land acquisition problems at the Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi.

Log on for sneak peek of dream city

ANIMESH BISOEE

A world-class city offering everything from convenience shopping complexes and multi-purpose parks to advance IT and healthcare centres, that’s Jamshedpur for you in 2027.
Global urban benchmarks have been included in the draft proposal of Greater Jamshedpur, the master plan of which has been prepared by US-based consultant Superior Global Infrastructure.
Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) received the proposal in December-end and uploaded it on its website, www.jamshedpurnac.com, last week, seeking suggestions.
The Greater Jamshedpur project is being pursued under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) of the Union urban development ministry and will cover 150sqkm of Jamshedpur Urban Agglomeration (JUA).
The areas to be covered include Jamshedpur, Mango and Adityapur notified area committees, Jugsalai municipality and eight villages. The hamlets that come under JUA are Ghorabandha, Chota Govindpur, Gadhra, Sarjamdah, Haludbani, Kitadih, Bagbera and Parsudih.
The Rs 15,000-crore project, first mooted in 2007, aims to provide efficient civic facilities to residents by 2027.
According to 2011 census, JUA has a population of nearly 16 lakh.
JUA nodal officer R.N. Dwiwedi said the draft proposal was available on www.jamshedpurnac.com. “This is the final draft of the master plan for Greater Jamshedpur. We want to incorporate any suitable suggestion from individuals or institutions. On January 28, we will send the draft, along with suggestions, if any, to the state urban development department,” said Dwiwedi.
After the state urban development department gives its approval, the proposal will be sent to the state cabinet (or any other appropriate authority) for final ratification.
According to the draft, for every 5,000 people, there will be a convenience shopping centre (minimum area of 1,000sqm), housing area park and playground (each of 5,000sqm) and health clinic (500sqm). Every population of 10,000 will have access to primary school (4,000sqm) and senior secondary cradle (8,000sqm), religious building, community hall, dance and drama halls, service market (2,000sqm) and bazaar (1,000sqm). Parking space for three-wheelers and four-wheelers, neighbourhood parks and playgrounds, sports coaching centres, IT and language centres (500sqm) and dispensary are other add-ons.
This apart, for every 10,000 people, there will be at least two hospitals, one of 100 beds and the other 200, pediatric, geriatric and diagnostic centre, maternity home, dispensary for pet animals, police post, community recreation centre, bus terminal, night shelter and multi-purpose park.
A hospital, veterinary health hub, vocational training institutes, management and research institutes, two schools for physically and intellectually impaired, general college, two police stations, fire stations (5-6km radius), district park and multi-purpose grounds for every 5 lakh.
Areas covering a population of 10 lakh will have a medical college, sub-city wholesale market, head post office and administrative office, city, science parks and district sports centre. “The proposal, after including suggestions of people, will be reviewed by the department before being sent for final ratification to the cabinet or any appropriate authority,” said state urban development principal secretary Nitin Madan Kulkarni.
