A1 Apeldoorn - Hengelo

Some news regarding the A1 expansion;

* 52 kilometers of motorway to be expanded
* 649 people commented on the draft EIA
* construction will begin after the summer of 2018
* tender phase has started
* final EIA will be compiled parallel to the tender phase

Due to a tight budget, the expansion is programmed in two phases: 2018-2020 and 2024-2026. The provinces of Gelderland and Overijssel are pre-financing some of the project cost so it can begin sooner than originally budgeted.

Expansion plan & schedule

I don't know why I missed the project for my overview but I think I should add it because it seems to fulfill my criteria, doesn't it. (I thought I have asked in the past and was told that it doesn't fulfill the criteria but I cannot find any post about it)

The entire project is a four lane, divided, controlled-access highway with mostly a 100 km/h speed limit once completed, so I think it fulfills your criteria. Only the first and last exit on A76 and N281 are roundabouts. All other interchanges on the 26 kilometer route are grade-separated.

N391 Emmen - Ter Apel

The Roswinkel grade-separated interchange of N391 in Drenthe province opened to traffic yesterday. It is a diamond interchange where N391 goes over N379. It is part of a safety upgrade of N391 between Emmen and Ter Apel.

N247 Amsterdam - Volendam

There are plans to upgrade provincial road N247 in North Holland province. Several variants have been made for the crossing at the town of Broek in Waterland.

The most extensive variant is a four lane tunnel with an 80 km/h speed limit:

A2 expansion

The plan is to widen A2 from four to six lanes from Het Vonderen (A73) to Kerensheide (A76). This section of A2 has shoulder lanes, the average traffic is approximately 100,000 vehicles per day on most sections.

The expansion is not just a simple outward widening, they will build an asymetric expansion to address 1950s design deficiencies.

The project is budgeted for 2022-2025. There is no urgent need to do this as fast as possible, the shoulder lanes keep traffic moving.

Some news;

* 73 comments were given to the draft EIA
* 1 comment contained 401 signatures from the village of Guttecoven
* final EIA is expected in 2018

Overall this is a low number of comments, given how A2 runs through a densely populated area and the expansion requires some realignment of A2 at some locations, so it's more work than to just add a shoulder.

No specifics were given about Guttecoven, but this village isn't that close to A2, the distance is some 600 meters with a small forest in between. Other towns are closer to A2, such as Born, Urmond, Roosteren and Echt.

N300 Buitenring Parkstad Limburg

Another section of the N300 expressway in Southern Limburg opened to traffic today, a 3 km section from the zoo in Kerkrade to the Avantis roundabout with N281. Over half of the route runs directly along the German border.

This video was taken shortly before opening (it was uploaded yesterday). Strangely it doesn't feature any signage at the exits.

I'd like to suggest this channel:

I think the sections are as follows:

N300: Nuth (A2) – Brunssum (N276) 5.5km (? to October 2018) – project – map
N300: Brunssum (N276) – Brunssum (N274) 2.4km (? to 10th November 2017) – project – map
N300: Brunssum (N274) – Brunssum-Rimburgerweg 3.8km (? to April 2018) – project – map
N300: Brunssum-Rimburgerweg – Landgraaf-Gravenweg 5.5km (? to 28th July 2017) – project – map
N300: Landgraaf-Gravenweg – Eygelshoven ~1km (? to April 2018) – project – map
N300: Eygelshoven – Kerkrade-Gaiazoo 2.2km (? to 2nd June 2017) – project – map
N300: Kerkrade-Gaiazoo – Gracht 3.0km (? to 17th November 2017) – project – map
N300: Gracht – Avantis (N281) 0.7km (? to 16th December 2016) – project – map

Correct?

When have construction works on each segment began?

I don't know an exact date when the N300 construction began for each segment.

The whole project was enviromentally cleared in March 2015, but some sections already began construction before that. In the Amstenrade / Brunssum area, construction already began in early 2014, but most of the project didn't start until mid-2015 or so. A portion on the east side of Brunssum didn't start construction until late 2016.

N35 Nijverdal - Wierden

In her first notable act as minister of transportation, Cora van Nieuwenhuizen signed the draft EIA for the N35 expansion between Nijverdal and Wierden today. It will be published for comment on 1 December. A final EIA is expected sometime 2018. The project could be completed in 2022 (moved up from '2022-2024' as was stated before).

The new N35 will be a four lane, controlled-access expressway from Nijverdal to Wierden, where it joins the existing A35 motorway. The speed limit will be 100 km/h, with new interchanges near Nijverdal and Wierden. A wildlife crossing will be built over the road and the adjacent railway.

That would be helpful. But money would be better spent in Hooipolder though.

A2/A9 knooppunt Holendrecht

A9 will be closed westbound between Diemen (A1) and Holendrecht (A2) this weekend. They will connect the new flyover of the Holendrecht motorway interchange. Traffic from the S111 interchange to A2 south or A9 west will use this flyover. It is the longest flyover of the 4 bridge replacements for the A9 expansion at Holendrecht.

It is a single lane flyover because it carries only traffic from S111 to A2/A9. A9 traffic will use a new bridge right beside it, while the reversible lane will be on a third bridge beside that.

The flyover on the right will open to traffic on 4 December:

It is the long purple flyover on this schematic, indicated as 'kunstwerk 020 nieuw':

No, both locations (and more) need such upgrades badly. Here the A16 will become a bit smoother to drive (though it actually could use 1 or 2 extra lanes and a new Moerdijkbridge or tunnel) and especially the N3 will have much less backed-up traffic at the traffic lights on the current intersection.

I think there is a need for 10 lanes across the Moerdijk Bridge in the future. Present-day traffic volumes are just over 130,000 vehicles per day with a substantial amount of semi trucks.

They should expand A16 to 2x5 lanes from the A16/A17 interchange (Klaverpolder) to the A16/N3 interchange ('s-Gravendeel) and then 2x4 lanes to the Drecht Tunnel.

Basically all river crossings between Brabant and the north are overburdened.

You have:
* A16 Moerdijk Bridge: 131,800 (2x3)
* A27 Keizersveer Bridge: 83,800 (2x2, replacement planned in the near future)
* A2 Meuse Bridge: 139,600 (2x3)
* A50 Ravenstein Bridge: 96,400 (2x2)

These high volumes leave very little spare capacity in case of incidents. If there is an incident on A16, both A27 and A29 will get severely congested.

To be fair, the entire Brabant motorway system is overburdened. If it is rainy, the whole network becomes congested, both the east-west and north-south motorways.
