"High Frontier" space settlement simulation game

Hi all,

I thought folks here would be interested in a project I'm working on. It's a realistic space settlement simulation game called High Frontier. Its purpose is to entertain, educate, and inspire all at once. It already features realistic effects such as:
  • radiation (solar, trapped particles, and cosmic rays), including the effects of orbit, shielding, and near planetary bodies
  • dynamics (stability or instability of large rotating bodies)
  • energy balance, including insolation, insulation, energy use, and radiation
So the scientific foundation of High Frontier is strong.

But even more important than that, perhaps, is its potential to inspire. Video games are the most effective means of reaching the youth of today. We need to get people looking upward and dreaming big dreams about the future again. High Frontier does this by making every player an active participant in creating a bright, realistic future.

We've launched a campaign to fund all the artwork needed for the internal colony view. The video at that link is using stock buildings as placeholders, but I think there are a lot of interesting possibilities for architecture within a space colony.

For example, many designs have a natural ceiling, something like 50-200 m above the ground. So you could have towers that extend to this ceiling, and are primarily tension structures rather than compression structures.

What do you think? What other interesting possibilities are there for architecture & transportation within a space colony?
