I read it differently ...

"We are finalizing our deal with a larger replacement tenant, and will be announcing shortly."

... seems to imply the holdup is over Fairwinds turning tail and the time it takes to line up an even larger tenant.

Agreed. There is demand for large leasable floor space Downtown. Currently the city has small pockets of space for lease.

I went to the Magic game Sunday and the parking lot for proposed Tremont wasn't being used. Was my first Magic game in a while but I know they normally use that parking lot. Just couldn't help but miss tremont potentially going there.

It's not dead, it's just waiting. Capital Plaza III will probably break ground first.

According to one of the cities urban engineers they are moving forward and have increased the size of the building. I did a double take when I heard it to.

It's going on the surface lot facing Rosalind and will attach to the current garage. Looks to be 16-18 stories high. The remaining portion of the lot will be left as a park for future hotel/retail development.

He ended the conversation by saying downtown is about to explode in construction.

I saw this. Confusing article. But would seem as though Tremont is a go sooner than later? BTW Article mentions 28 stories. Not sure if that is new.

This is like Charlotte's Tryon Place. Tryon Place was announced in 2014 to start in 2015. It was the "transformative project" to catalyze a building boom.

Although there are reports of substantial leasing -- and there are reasons to believe it will go ahead -- the site remains barren while Charlotte booms around it.

Interesting. Still no activity since yesterday when I drove by. Still, I didn't think Modera would go up and it's on the 5th or 6th level now.
