Here's the final rendering as posted on UP without the mechanical curtain that LA_TN described.

The structural height is the question without an official answer (that I am aware of). The structural height was 543, but switching the mechanical curtain (which gave the appearance of a crown) to a glass wall will apparently change the structural height to 544/545. Again, I don't have any official confirmation on the structural height.

Regardless, the listed height will be 524 ft, 160 m
The "official" height will be the structural height, correct? If we're not using structural height, then 505 Church St will be Nashville's new tallest building. We've long said the AT&T has been Nashville tallest building at 617 ft, but if we're using roof height as the listed height then the AT&T building is only 452 feet.

I agree with you that the glass wall should be used for the listed height because it is part of the structure. It should be. I hope it is. ~545 would be better than 524, but who cares about a few feet?

Now, we just have to wait ...........

I've always had the feeling that official building heights are not very consistent because there's too much wiggle room for deciding such things as whether or not an antenna or a spire can be counted as part of the official height based on whether or not it adds an architectural element to the building. For example, the former Sears tower was never allowed to add the height of its antenna even though it's a massive structure that clearly has architectural features that anyone can recognize. I do think that the spires on the AT&T building appear to be substantial enough to be considered as part of the total height and I hope that they use consistent measurements to represent the true height of the 505 Church building when it is completed.

I drove downtown this afternoon to get a better look at it. It's clearly the second tallest building downtown from every direction now although I can't imagine that it will end up looking as tall as it appears in some of the renders I've seen. I drove by the elevator on the outside of the building on one side and saw that they had the floor numbers painted on the exterior but I was driving by myself with cars right behind me and wasn't able to see how high the numbers went. I would imagine that the core must be nearing completion. Even though the design is somewhat bland I think this building is looking pretty good. It will be interesting to see how downtown changes as these new projects add to the skyline.

"Ultra luxury" with vinyl floors? Will be VERY interesting to see how this one shakes out from a sales perspective. Tony G has never been really caught in a market softening cycle. He got enough sold in the Encore to cover his construction loan and wait out the down market but this is the kind of product that could produce some interesting issues. The for-sale units will easily crest $1,000 per sq foot. Again, with vinyl floors at the tail end of a very long upswing in this market, I think we're in for some good condo watching for the next 12 - 24 months.
