Flickr- Richmond, Virginia Edition

Yes, these are not my photos (however I do have many photos of Richmond).
I was cruising around and saw several new ones so I thought what the heck. So, here are my new favorites of Richmond!

- check out the density and how great the buildings blend; and this doesn't include most of the skyline.

I agree with you. The density of the city is great; not many city's can boast such density. Now a new tallest is all we need (at this point lol).

Virginia was the 2009 best state for business...so I would say Richmond is pretty business-friendly.

Definitely, that may be one of it's strongest points. Like 540 said, Virginia was ranked the 2009 best state for business, which it has held before.
Here is a 2007 report on Richmond-

The Greater Richmond area was named the third-best city for business by MarketWatch in September 2007, ranking behind only the Minneapolis and Denver areas and just above Boston. The area is home to six Fortune 500 companies, including: electric utility Dominion Resources; CarMax; Owens & Minor; Genworth Financial, the former insurance arm of GE; MeadWestvaco; and Altria Group. Five Fortune 1000 companies also have their headquarters located in the area. These include: Brink's; Massey Energy; Universal Corporation; and Markel. Richmond is home to the rapidly developing Virginia BioTechnology Research Park, which opened in 1995 as an incubator facility for biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Located adjacent to the Medical College of Virginia (MCV) Campus of Virginia Commonwealth University, the park currently[when?] has more than 575,000 square feet (53,400 m2) of research, laboratory and office space for a diverse tenant mix of companies, research institutes, government laboratories and non-profit organizations. The United Network for Organ Sharing, which maintains the nation's organ transplant waiting list, occupies one building in the park. Philip Morris USA opened a $350 million research and development facility in the park in 2007. Once fully developed, park officials expect the site to employ roughly 3,000 scientists, technicians and engineers.

Richmond is certainly an overlooked/underrated city...i think it's because of the city's proximity to D.C. Anyway, beautiful photos of a beautiful city.

Yeah...but every city needs a new tallest in my opinion.

I don't necessarily dislike Richmond's tallest, I just don't find it very attractive in its current state. It looks dirty. It should be re-clad somehow and they should build its planned-but-never-completed twin.

Another one of my favorites.

I think this is Richmond's "good side"...

You miss a lot of the skyline but I think the greenery and water make up for it.

Yeah, I agree. Every city could use a new tallest. Here in the Baltimore area
it has been quite some time without one.

I love Richmond and the dense skyline that blends so well, however I must say that I hate the Monroe Tower with a passion lol.

I honestly think I would be totally depressed if I had to go to work in this drab building everyday lol.

That is, until you realize that you have the perfect view of the city from your top-floor office suite.

Haha, true....my dad tried to go in and use his charm to take a few photos....but they said no. Very politely, but it was a no lol. Maybe I'll go use my awesome charm next time and see where it gets me. I should be going back this month (weather permitting) to take photos
