More rain is predicted for next week in the Southeast. Hopefully, we'll get enough to get that drought Monitor to change.

Yep, the Pacific ridge (keeping us warm here in Seattle) known as the +PNA pattern will keep the buckled jet your way. More rain and chill until mid Feb from what I can tell in the southeast. Here is the rain estimates from the HPC for the next 5 days. Decent soaker coming for the SEC land. Probably potential for some thunderstorms to line up in Florida with the next system.

Snow on the beach. This was yesterday btw. There were even reports of a few flurries down here in Savannah yesterday morning.

The upcoming rain storm looks really impressive. I can easily see 2-3 inches of rain falling tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow evening.

About the same rainfall amounts forecasted for us here in N.E. Florida as well.

Looks like the deep south got a good soaker today. Nasty line of storms in Florida today hope everyone was safe, especially the first coast where I have family! Early next week should bring another similar style storm but maybe with some more cold air to it. More good drought relief.

Let's see what this system does as the day progresses. Maybe we can finally get a noticeable dent in that Drought Monitor.

It's snowing hard just east of me and temps will challenge all-time lows by Thursday.

Lots of rain heading into my area this week. It'll get a little chilly on Thursday and Friday, but it won't even be close to the bitter cold that Texas and Oklahoma will get.

Looks like Oklahoma took a swift blow from the storm with 4 to 12 inches of snow as well as some ice. http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/current/KOKC.html But the fast moving storm may spare the south central plains the worst...

Wow! This should make that Drought Monitor look a little different.

Two shots at rain this week for the south. One early in the week, probably not as heavy. The second one late week will be yet another monster somewhere across the country. I suspect anyone from Oklahoma/Texas to the Northeast should prepare for another bout of winter. Heavy rain again for Florida! Followed by a chill. After that the pattern dries up and early spring! Hopefully, last hurrah!

Dallas hit with ice - then five inches of snow in the days before the Super Bowl. Hopefully some of it will melt by Sunday -- although hopefully not the ice on the stadium roof while people are hanging out around the stadium.
