I dunno Vancouver is a little more dense, the picture of vancouver is a lil misleading, its as actually equally as wide as it is long. But who knows. Vancouver has around 1000 buildings over 20 stories or something.

Maybe, I dont know. I've seen some pretty dense angles of TO. But then again it's hard you may be right.

Does anyone know the demographics?

The skyline is dramatic evidence of a unique and lasting love affair with the high-rise condo. Per capita, no city in North America has as many residential high-rises as Vancouver. Likely its people want views of the mountains and water, or because the city has nowhere to go but up. After all, density is highest on the continent following New York, San Francisco, and Mexico City.
-Emporis.

But I think thats talking about the city itself so I dunno.

I mean look at this pic

I mean the crimes I'd commit for a skyline like that in charlotte.

You won't have to commit any crimes if Charlotte continues getting great projects Vancouver has been a major city long before Charlotte became the 2nd largest financial center in the U.S., so don't worry, Charlotte could get a skyline similar to Vancouver's in our lifetime. The thing you can be "jealous" of is Vancouver's street level experience, which I am afraid takes generations to create.

Since we talk about aerial photos, here are a couple of old aerials from Raleigh. In the first we face North-East, while in the second one we face North-West. Just for the record, the only two taller buildings that didn't survive are the two midrises that appear in the center of the 2nd photo. What a shame, because they were both great looking buildings

A couple more images from several years ago. Some structures have not been built yet, but the big picture is not very different.

Here are some closer shots of DT Houston. The quality is not that great.

Lots of parking on the east side.

Atlanta isn't very dense now but one day the gaps will fill & then it'll be one of the best skylines.

those are flattering pictures of houston (looks awesome) but what you dont see are the surface lots behind downtown (to the east where the stadiums are) asn i would imagine LA is considrably more dense.

new olreans: wow...easily among the densest in the country...along with beantown and SF

charlotte: much love for the city but that pic was not flattering. style?

jacksonville: the most un-american looking skyline. looks asian but with grits.

OKC looks pretty good as well and green
It might not have a dense skyline, but just think of this, Mexico City has over 7 buildings taller than the tallest building in Vancouver that does not even surpass 150m or 491 feet while Torre Mayor the tallest building in Mexico is 225m, or 738 feet. Also, Mexico believe it or not, has many nice skylines.

Mexico City-

I'm not trying to insult you or anything like that, it's just that even though I'm not Mexican, I just want to proove to you that Mexico City perhaps may not have a dense skyline like Vancouver, Chicago, New York City, or Houston, but it does have a little dense skyline and it is a skyline.

Now that we have the obligatory skyline ranking out of the way...

Wilmington rocks. It has a great downtown for a city its size.

At least in Charlotte the freeway runs around the center of the city, which is pretty standard for a city its size. Unless that pic was deceptive, it looks like there's actually a freeway through the middle of Durham, which seems ludicrously short-sighted for any town of any size.

That's a rail corridor, with roads on either side. The freeway is south of the Durham Bulls facility.

Wow, Macon's downtown area is large for a city its size. I'm surprised.

Damn! Didn't know I had a city of that size just two hours away!!! I need to get out more.

And who would've thought Charlotte had a Banco do Brasil office! If not for the crime, Sao Paulo would be a nice city to live in. A city the size of New York with mostly tropical weather.
